I spend too much time on the internet procrastinating, does anyone know of a way to stop? because I can't seem to stop.
Are we talking procrastinating like putting off the stuff you need to do? Then: I haven't found a way to stop my procrastinating yet, but what seems to help me is kind of setting myself a limit and kind of allowing myself some time to relax after finishing a certain amount of work. Like I always have difficulties staying focused on my studies when learning for exams, so I kind of tell myself I have to learn like 10 pages or something and then I can relax for half an hour. As I said, it doesn't stop me from procrastinating, but it kinda helps me to structure and organize my time I need to study. Hope this helps. If we're just talking reducing time spent on the internet: Try to find some other hobbies, things you're interested in. Read a good book, learn a language, go out and meet up with friends, learn to play an instrument, go to the gym, join a sports club, really anything that arouses your interest.
Yeah, I might look into reading some, good idea! It's sort of a bit of both, I procrastinate on the internet and spend too much time, and can't seem to stop. But this some good advice, I'll see if I can try and do this.
I have several suggestions: When you feel like procrastinating, do so. Use the time to gain knowledge. Just pick a subject you like and research. It doesn't stop procrastination, but it makes it more productive. Develop a hobby Make a promise to yourself, and don't break it. This is probably the key to most things in life.
If you use Google Chrome, then you can add an extension called StayFocused. You choose certain sites you want blocking from, for how long - say, between 17:00 and 21:00 - and it blocks them. This allows you to get on with things like school work etc.
Unfortunately for me, this only results in finding new sites to look at. OP, try logging every minute you spend procrastinating. Get yourself a little notebook in which you record exactly how long you spent on things other than school, and then decide where you want to set the limit: 30 min/day, 2 hrs/day, whatever. That worked for me (although I eventually got lazy and stopped logging). As long as you are disciplined about logging, it could be a good way to guilt yourself into doing your work.
You could always get a really, really slow (possibly even dial-up connection), so that it'll be such a pain, you won't wanna go the internet. And get rid of any smart phones, &c.
