I was just reading an article in Huffpost about Fred Phelps' death and the effect of Phelps on his hometown. In that article was a very short quote from a gay man that I found really profound: That's probably the best and clearest definition of why being closeted creates and contributes to shame that I've ever heard. Just some food for thought
