Hey all, I am supposed to be studying! I have a big piece of work due this Friday, but I keep getting so distracted. Any suggestions on how to get motivated to work and/or what distracts you when you are supposed to be working? (apart from EC of course!)
I have pretty raging ADHD so I'm very easily distracted! I block off a lot of time to work to account for the fact that I'll spend large parts of it zoning out/on EC/distracted somehow. This usually helps.
I try to isolate myself with the the assignment I have to do, such as holing up in a library corner with no computer, or not along myself to open up any new tabs on the computer.
Considering I came across this thread while procrastinating, I'm probably not the best one to ask for motivation. That being said, we should both do some work so we don't fail out of school.
Try switching off your phone and get rid of any other distracting things (unless you must use the computer) Also try studying in a different room than you usually do. I have the same problem of distraction and this often works for me.
Set a timer - study X minutes, then goof off X minutes, then study X minutes again. Repeat until study time is over.
Classical or other instrumental music. Satiates the need to be entertained without the distraction of demanding your attention.
Go to the library. Physically removing myself from the temptation of social media and telephone calls is sometimes the only thing that works for me.
