What Do You Do?

Discussion in 'Chit Chat' started by NoMercyMercury, Apr 3, 2014.

  1. What do you do to earn a living? Do you enjoy it? What is your dream job?

I actually have two job offers right now, one at a bank, the other as a call center manager. I'm not sure which one I'm accepting, but I would enjoy them both! haha I also run a computer repair shop with my boyfriend and write short stories for extra cash.

My dream job would be to be a full-time writer, full-time bank branch manager, and sell life insurance while working for my boyfriend's computer repair shop. (I'm such an exciting person lol)

What about all of you? :icon_bigg

(Note: Do not be specific. Instead of writing "Walmart, Kmart, Target, CIA," just write "Retail, pet shop, government job")

I'm currently a field representative in a re-election campaign for a member of Congress, and I'm a junior in college majoring in Political Science and Communication.

I work in fast food. I've been doing it for about 7 years. I have been at the same place for about 5 years though, and lately, I hate it. It's such a pain in the ass. Well, I guess I don't hate it, but it's not ideal. I feel like I could be doing better. I was an insurance agent, but that didn't last because of my anxiety. In fast food, I prep, working 7am-3pm, which is nice.

My dream job? I'm not sure. As great as it would be to be a full-time professional artist, I'm afraid it takes more discipline than I actually have. I love art. I love everything about it in all its various forms. I love artists and being around creative people. But I'm going through a pretty terrible depression right now, so I'm not motivated to do anything.

Web developer/graphics. It's a pretty nice situation for me right now, after years of patronizing the "Little Leagues".

Dream job is serious filmmaker, though (meaning, not porn). Anyone want to subsidize certain cinematic genius?

I am a licensed therapist. I currently work as a crisis therapist so I see people in the emergency room and decide whether they get admitted or not

my dream job is a private practice. I am on my way right now to getting my clinical license

  9. Sometimes getting my creative juices flowing helps my depression spell, but other times (like you) I'm just not motivated. But if you love it, you should definitely peruse it =)

Thanks. I know I should just channel what I'm going through, but it's hard. Gotta try though.

    Very little.

I'm a student (uni). Plus I work as a carer but my hours are really irregular and it's kind of a disaster. I really need something more regular.

My dream job would probably be counselling, but I can't afford the training so that's not going to happen any time soon.

  13. There are actually some programs out there (depending on your location) that will actually help you afford training for any career. You could even check out FASFA (not 100% sure that's spelled right) they help cut the costs of college and training tremendously!

Sweet! That's what I'll be starting this summer.

I work for the railway... basically, my job is to keep trains moving (in the right direction) and make sure they never get too close. I have to work 24/7 shifts and it can be quite demanding when a lot is happening, but I do get generous time off and it's fairly well paid. It's not my dream job, but I quit the rat race to do it

I applaud you for this. Some never do this, do it much later, or have a breakdown somewhere along the way. It sounds like you caught the "issue" early. At any rate, that sounds like an interesting job!

Stagehand, it's what i always wanted to be at the moment.
but then i always wanted to be a writer. words can have more power if you know how to use them right. i always find that when you finally have your dream job, it isn't always what you can expect it to be. if any case i tell myself to don't wish for too much things and just go with the flow and what makes you happy.

I'm a college student. I bum off my parents. :roflmao: I babysit here and there to make money. In a few years when I finish graduate school I'll be certified as a marriage and family therapist as well as social work, and I hope to start working for LGBT youth agencies and stuff and move my way up in that field so I can hopefully raise awareness and do my part to inspire other people like me

I am a mature student. I completed my degree in physics and am on the verge of finishing my second degree in radiography.

I have already got a job at the hospital I've been placed at for when I finish. I'll be working in x-ray. My job also involves taking x-rays in wards as well as screening in operating theatres.

    Happy days

  19. Agreed! What you do though would be my kid's dream job. It's all he can ever talk about and he knows waaaaay more about it than I've ever been able to teach him (five years old).

You should be glad you quit the rat race though. Wish I could do it at this point! lol
