Default Fremdsprachen

It's really random...

But I was wondering what languages people can speak=P

I speak German with a passion (alright, high school standard, but I still love it<3)

And a bit of Chinese... but I'm dropping it=P

I forgot my first language (Vietnamese) and took Japanese for 3 years (And have forgotten most of it), so the only thing that sticks with me is English. D:

I take both German and Chinese, I'm in my sixth year of both. I'm not that great at either of them, though. I have a good German accent and a decent feel for the language, and I usually get As in tests and exams, but I'm not fluent or anything.

English is my second language, but I'm fluent as well.

Planning on taking a class in either Koine Greek or Intensive French as a Senior!
Currently a Junior though. :[

I really want to learn Italian though, then Catalan. :]

I started French classes last year. I'll be in my second year of French now.

I only speak a little bit of Spanish, just enough to tell you off and swear at you, actually. I'm quite popular amongst the kids that take Spanish. I can teach them the fun words and phrases .

I used to know how to say "Holy Shit" and "Where's the Beer" in German, but I forgot .

I want to try and learn Russian when I'm older.

don't learn german!

Quote:
# You probably know in German there are three different genders der, das, and die. So for every single noun out there, you need to memorize a gender as well (the are some rules for determining gender, but for every rule there are just as many exceptions as examples that fit, so you still have to memorize every single one individually). But you also need to change the article, based on the case that you are using the noun in. Let’s see what this looks like in German:

German
Code:
Nominative der das die die (pl.)
Accusative den das die die
Dative dem dem der den
Genitive des des der der
Now let’s translate that table into English:

English
Code:
Nominative the the the the (pl.)
Accusative the the the the
Dative the the the the
Genitive the the the the
Do you really want to learn a language that has 16 ways to say the word “the”? And it doesn’t stop there, you need to learn 16 ways to say “a” (in English 2), and 32 ways to change adjective endings (in English we have 0). And you want to try to do this in real-time in your head while trying to carry one a conversation… forget about it.
(Full article here: http://nothingforungood.com/2008/05/...-learn-german/)

Haha honestly, it's not an easy language to learn - and as a German I have the highest respect for everybody who tries to master our difficult language just because he likes to do so

If you think German is hard, try Polish - where omitting a full stop after a title abbreviation may decide which gender you are talking about.

Oh and we have 7 noun cases.

English has silent letters. Do you really want to learn a language with letters in words you don't even pronounce??

I dominate the English language every day. I butcher Italian, French, German, and Spanish with no remorse. Italian- Used to work in an Italian restaurant with my Italian friend and he started teaching me. I moved before I could really get serious though. French- Highschool. One year and I really hated it. German- Highschool. Three years and I loved it. Actually would have pursued German but I did not go to college as planned. Spanish- There are only three Americans in the kitchen that I am currently working at, the rest all speak Spanish, so I am having to learn to make it easier for myself. It is difficult.
