    So I just glanced at the total posts and membership and was floored. Last I looked, we were at about 700k posts and 25k members. Amazing how much the EC community has grown... And all thanks to the contributions of our members.

    I've always put it down to the fact that everyone feels so safe here. There's been many times that I've thought I'd log out and leave, but it's a place that one can be themselves in a world where many of us can't in our daily lives.

    Yes Aussie, we are all being sentimental, it truely is down to the staff and volunteers that we have this resource. To be perfectly honest, I can't imagine how many lives EC has saved.

    There really is something special about this place, I don't know how you guys managed to create this "thing" but, should its success continue, and it is so necessary that it does, it could be an excellent model for other interest-group forums.

    There is deep need for a place like this. Congratulations to everyone here who have made it what it is!

    That is amazing. I am so glad that I have joined EC. This forum has been so helpful for me to come to terms with who I am. If it was not for EC and some amazing friends, this process would have been so much more difficult.

    And this November, EC will be celebrating its 10th birthday. I really just wish I could have been here earlier. I've made so many friends here, and I don't know where I'd be if I didn't have the support to keep me sane.

    I should be clear that none of the current staff, admins or active board members were involved in creation of EC. Credit for that goes to Bryce, Shannon and John, who bought the domain name and started the site in 2004, and to PaulUK who was the single administrator of the site from 2004 until early 2009 or so.

    Many of the original policies that helped EC to become what it is today came from them. The current staff, admins, and board built on the already strong structure in place. And while it was incredibly unpopular when it went into place, I'm pretty sure that our really strict security policy has also played a large role in making the community a totally safe and creeper-free community, which has no doubt had a dramatic effect on its growth rate.

    But as I said, more than anything else, what makes EC what it is... is the members who contribute their time and energy. :slight_smile:

    As for the member count - EC has been gaining 10-12+ members daily for the past month. The amount of users is skyrocketing. :grin:
    The family... it grows!

    Thanks to everyone on the site for making it what it is. I love spending my time on this site.
