How many of you actually go to pride parades/weekends? Have you been to any? If so do you attend regularly. Do you take part by helping with stuff?

I've never been to a LGBT, gay or bi pride event and was wondering if they are really worth checking out. The nearest one to me is at the end if next month and I've been tossing up whether to check it out or not.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences,

    Thanks,

    Happy days

I've been to London Pride, Brighton Pride and the Sydney Mardi Gras

Overall it's a fantastic day/night. You will never see Soho more congested. Fantastic!

Went to Brighton a few years ago, but not since. Would like to go again, but my schedule is crazy. Just went for the experience, not to help with events/stalls etc.

Went to my first (hopefully of many) last year, it was great and I had a great time participating in the parade and showing my true colours.

I don't even know if there are any around here because it's not something I keep tabs on. It really isn't my kind of thing though, so I doubt it anyways really.

Pride parades. I don't like them.
I've seen some on TV. Too colorful and loud.

I haven't been to one and I don't really plan on attending one in the future. It's not really for me, I just don't see myself fitting in with the festivities that usually occur at Pride.

There was one in Miami this past Sunday, the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade, but I didn't go. Who would've taken me?

I've been every year for 20 years or so--when I was younger I was often in the parade for one of a variety of organizations, now I mainly just go--sometimes I'll have a brunch for a group of people and all go together, sometimes just my husband and I. Sometimes it's a big weekend long extravaganza, sometimes just the parade. But I always go to the parade. For me it's important--I'm proud of myself and proud of my community.

I used to be the president of a college GSA, and I've tabled for that and for TDOR but that's it. I don't like rainbows or under-dressed people or alcohol or perkiness so... :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I would like to attend at least one parade. Just to see what it's like.

They seem a little over-sexualized, focused on Lupercalian shenanigans over presentation of GSMs as equally-decent human beings.

I went to Dayton Pride several years. It was a blast! There are a couple of pictures in my album from 2011 Pride. I'm hoping to go for 2014.
