I learned piano to impress a girl. We used to play together on the scoop piano and every once and a while our pinkys would touch on a common note *cue gleeful smile*
I started playing piano when I was about 7 or 8. But I have no sense for any music theory. I just want to play.
I play because it distracts me. Until it gets too frustrating But I'm not terribly good at it. If you listen to my recording of half a piece on the ####### thread, you'll hear plenty of slips...
I was forced into piano lessons at a young age. I was taught to read basic sheet music and plink out a few one-handed melodies. I mostly disliked it though, so was allowed to quit after a few months. Fast forward about six or seven years, and I found out the piano could be used to make some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Sooner or later, the desire to play finally showed up. Crap, now it's too late. XD Someday I'll pick it up again.
Can read music and play at a mid-range level, I think I got to level 5 when I was younger, but I quit at like 14(so I could hang out with Friends more), and have forgotten a lot, but can still read music, so it wouldn't take long to get back at it.
