What's your opinion on people who specify their romantic orientation?

They're living proof of how wrong people who think that sexuality is black and white are.

It could be useful if you are not 100% gay or straight to help others understand you.

What can I say? I don't have problems if you want to tell me who really you are.

I think they're useful, depending on your orientation. Since I'm a homoromantic (mostly) asexual/demisexual, I usually have to specify both so people know what to expect from me in regards to a relationship.

If someone says they are bisexual/homosexual, but are actually heteromantic, I'd want to know so I can avoid dating this person.

My biggest problem with accepting my sexuality was that I felt like I was stuck at 87% lesbian! So while romantic orientation is useful from a "what am i getting into" relationship point of view, it can take a lot of the stress out of figuring yourself out too!

See, there is something I don't get about questions like this. What is my opinion on a group of people? Do I get to decide whether they exist, or are just liars? Am I allowed to conclude that they're horrible, immoral people? This question is reserved for things like 'what do you think about psychics' etc.

In conclusion, just people. Like the rest of us.

Don't feel bad if you took it as an attack to how you identify, since I didn't mean that >:
I just prefer to know because of an incompatibility in a relationship- they wouldn't be romantically attracted to me, and I wouldn't be sexually attracted to them, so it probably could never work.

No no! I didn't take it as an attack at all!! Sorry if that's the vibe you got :/ It just really made me come to terms with things, and to be completely honest, had actually verifed and really made me see the rainbow :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I had considered myself heteromantic before, but I think I only thought that because I was still a little scared of really coming out as completely bisexual :/ And at the time, I wasn't sure if I could see myself living the rest of my life with a girl. I know, it sounds silly. But after I saw what you wrote, it got me thinking that maybe I'm really not heteromantic. Maybe I really can be biromantic. I do want to date a girl. I can't be heteromantic if I want to date a girl...right?
    Does that make sense?

I think doing so just makes things more confusing; these days the LGBT community is obsessed with semantics. The people who do that? Eh, it depends on the person, but they are almost invariably very left-wing. Far-left people, as a general rule, won't like any of my opinions except for "pro-LGBT".

Im just wondering, what is the point of getting into a romantic relationship with someone you are not sexually attracted to? How do you tell the person that you have no intention to sleep with them without hurting their feelings? Ofcourse these questions only pertain to people who are sexual.

And how does one be a, say...Heteroromantic Homosexual? Do you date the opposite sex but only sleep with the same sex? These terms seem quite superfluous to me.

Ebro, if I take me for example.
I like male bodies. I don't like female ones, it almost disgusts me.
I'm into guys and flat chests, testosterone (which often includes FtM).

    But I'm panromantic.
I can fall in love with anyone!
And if I do fall in love with someone I'm usually not sexually attracted to, I'll become sexually attracted to THEM. and them only!
If it's a AFAB/female bodied person, I'll love THEIR body but would still be disgusted by other female bodies.

I don't know if I explain it clearly..
    I'm still waking up XD

Sometimes I think maybe I'm not bisexual but am a bi-romantic heterosexual. Since my usual thoughts about girls I see aren't sexual and most of my crushes are on girls I kind of know. Like I think girls are hot but I'm more emotionally attracted than physical
Idk I'm trying to figure myself out
