This is just a random thing I've been thinking about lately. I often just think saying "I'm a lesbian" sounds a little odd, because nobody says "I'm a gay" although according to the dictionary, "gay" is technically a noun too. I prefer using it as an adjective. It makes it sound more like a part of a person, more internal to them. Of course both ways are correct but which way do you more commonly use it?
I suppose it could be both and you describe who or what you are in the way that makes you comfortable
Just so. If I could, I would just describe myself as "me". But alas, the human mind needs labels in order to not blow up.
I usually use gay as an adjective and lesbian as a noun. I actually almost never use "lesbian," because I'm more likely to say that someone's gay or a gay woman.
Me too, but I would never say "I'm lesbian," or "I'm a lesbian,". I usually use the word lesbian as a noun to describe other people.
