It seems like I occasionally set off people's gaydar even though I'm femme. It usually happens if I'm wearing alternative clothing or with another girl.
I don't know why, but I set all but the most ignorant's gaydar off. It actually makes things easier for me.
I always thought I set people's gaydars off more than I actually do. Most people I've come out to have been surprised, which surprises me.
I set peoples gaydars off quite often, maybe because I'm tomboyish... Especially when I'm with another girl, I get some funny looks. Once I was walking with a friend, and an old man walking ahead of us turned his head... 5 times? to stare at us And when I came out to an older friend, he said he already knew (wtf is it that obvious?). I'd like it to be visible, because I don't want to hide and it's too complicated to come out to everyone, so I don't feel awkward when I set gaydars off - actually, it makes me happy.
Super gay looking me got misgendered 3 times this week (!) I always set off people's gaydar. Even with long hair, according to my friends.
Several of my friends knew I was gay before I came out to anyone. When they met me, they just got a vibe of it, even though I'm only situationally flamboyant.
People at school knew before I did - well I knew but somehow they could tell, and I have no idea how...at Uni everybody thinks I'm straight (I think)
