Finger length hand survey

So, there have been threads about your finger ratio (2D:4D), that is, the ratio of the length of the index finger to ring finger. Some studies have linked this ratio to sexual orientation and other traits.

For the purposes of this survey, you will need: pen, ruler (preferably metric), and a calculator would be helpful.

For uniformity, let us all measure our RIGHT hand.

1) On your index finger (2D), palm side, place a small dot with the pen at the middle of your finger where the crease line closest to the palm. Measure with a ruler as accurately as possible from that dot to the tip of your index finger. Don't count the nail :lol:.

2) On your ring finger (4D), palm side, place a small dot with the pen at the middle of your finger on the crease closest to the palm. There will probably be several creases; choose the one closest to the palm. Measure the same as the index finger.

3) Find the ratio of the index finger to ring finger ( index finger / ring finger length = ratio)



To make sure your math is right :lol:, if your index finger is shorter than your ring finger, your ratio should be less than 1; if your index finger and ring finger are the same, the ratio should be 1; and, if your index finger is longer than your ring finger, the ratio should be greater than 1.
