Just out of curiosity, what makes you click on a thread after you see it? For me, it would usually be threads that I have an interest in, or have something to say about. Or if the title is vague, I'll read the thread to see what it's about. I have to admit to a bit of bias - seeing how many replies there are, who posted in it, things like that. Usually I'll reply to less populated threads...not sure about the rationale behind it.
Similar thread that could have some interesting responses: http://emptyclosets.com/forum/chit-chat/127778-what-do-you-look-while-browsing-ec.html The first threads I click usually have a few posts on them, pertain to gay men, or are in the Family, Friends, and Relationships section. If I see a title regarding a subject I'm pretty familiar with, I usually jump in there too. Otherwise, I just read everything else.
In order: -In the gender section -No replies -Interesting title -made by a member I know and like -nothing better to do
I usually check the gender section and chit chat section the most, and if it has an interesting title, then I'll read it, especially if it looks like something I have experience with or something that might be useful to me.
I find myself increasingly drawn to threads where I can experience some camaraderie with my fellow members. Hope this doesn't make me "clique-ish", I don't want to be that. That said, I'll post in almost any kind of thread these days. (Subjects that beg for a little "drive-by" epigram are like a tractor beam for me, though. )
- Is it something I'm familiar with? - Is it in the gender or chit-chat section? - Does the headline grab my attention? - Can I relate? - Is it active? - Or, has no one answered?
I generally look at most threads but only respond on those I feel I can help on. Especially if I can relate to the question. If I've been in a similar situation or feel the same way, I like to share that. I also answer questions where I feel the poster knows what to do and just lacks confidence, that way you can offer support in making those difficult steps. That being said, if the question is on something I really can't relate too, say people asking questions about being Trans etc (as I'm not and it would be wrong for me to pretend I could understand their situation) then I tend not to but in. I also don't answer questions that have had loads of answers and I don't feel my contribution would add anything. Happy days
-Can I relate to it? -Can I add something to it? -Has no one replied to it yet? -Does the title get my attention? -Is it still active?
I hang out in gender forum and chit chat and dabble in general help. I respond to topics based on the title a lot and if I see a topic I can help with and no one responded to I'll go in for the kill. Yes there are certain topics I will not touch though.
It's usually the title, my mood and how curious I am. For example I read questions and comments in topics "I don't have anything to do with" sometimes simply because it interests me.
I usually look for controversial topics. I also look for things about gender identity and things like that. I'll also click on something if I think that I can help on that topic.
Is it something I'm interested in? Is it by a member I particularly like? Is it something that requires help? (if someone needs help, especially with few replies, I usually read it in case it's important)
It's whatever triggers my interest like this one. Sometimes my interest is in the subject. Sometimes my interest is only in giving my 2 cents.
