Living Dead Dolls

So, I'm sittin' on the computer, minding my own business. And my mom calls.

She has a question for me. About Living Dead Dolls. She asks me if I had ever heard of them. I say 'Yeah, they're at Hot Topic, why?'. She proceeds to tell me this story about this friend of her's sister. She tells me that this girl bought a Living Dead Doll (I'll call 'em LDD's so I don't have to keep typing that out) and about a week later she started hearing voices telling her to kill herself and hurt others.

From what I understand, this girl is stable mentally and emotionally.

So, the question is, have you heard anything about these dolls and what have you heard if you've heard about them?

I want to figure this out for the poor girl.

I've found some stuff on websites saying that people were fearful for the owner's life because they were afraid the dolls were from the 'darkside' and one story even said that the doll had moved on it's own.

So, thanks, it's a big question...

I just went to Hot Topic last weekend. I didnt see them... havent heard of them till now.

ive seen 'em a couple of times, and was tempted to buy one for my grandma, but thought i might spend my money on something better, ya know, something that doesnt tell me to kill myself

They're ed up, thats for sure. I think the stories just come from the fact they look so freaky. She could have just been scared by their looks and imagined the voices and attributed it to the dolls. If she is hearing these voices she needs to get help and get rid of those stupid dolls

If I'm to be extremely opinionated here: frankly, if you are quite happy to casually spend good money on something so pointlessly morbid to keep for yourself, you're kind of not unlikely to have thoughts about things being extremely freaky, death, hauntedness, etc. in the first place. It's not the dolls (which actually for the most part don't look too bad), it's the mindset. People should get a life, or, if they are having genuine problems with thoughts of murder or suicide or whatever, then not feed that kind of festering negative monster with anything like a doll that to them embodies such gruesomeness.

And if they were somehow mystically evil demonic things.. the above still applies. This girl? She should get rid of the doll if she feels that bad with it (save the pallid, suken-eyed ("living")dead for morticians if it causes problems) and get some serious help for the voices problem - even if it is just an overactive late-night sleep-deprived imagination or something, to put her mind to rest.

Yeah, from what I understand, she was perfectly normal, mentally and emotionally, never heard any kind of voices before, and then she buys this doll and suddenly she starts hearing them.

She got rid of the doll and is now in a hospital to get help. She told her family what happened and they got her help. So, hopefully she'll be alright.
