Ok tonight I was vacuuming my room.

I'm not sure if the make of vacuum will help, but it's the metal version of Henry? (Those in the UK will know what I'm talking about)

Anyway, in through my window flies this MASSIVE cockroach. So I move the nozzle over and vacuum it up mid-flight! I heard it hit the inside of the vacuum (Because it's metal).

It is a bagged vacuum. But now I'm worrying it will fly back out!?

    Advice!?

I doubt it's still alive. I've vacuumed up hundreds of cockroaches and not one has flown out.

Lol I bet it's alive if they're supposed to survive nuclear blasts. Or is that just a myth?

I don't think it'll be able to survive being trapped in a vacuum for very long. They need oxygen, don't they?

And, no. That's not a myth. They can survive great amounts of radiation. They've been around since the dinosaurs.

I imagine it would just crawl in his throat and lay eggs in the vocal chords before resting on his forehead.

If people could only see me right now: I keep putting my ear on to the vacuum to hear if it is flapping about inside! I think I heard it, but I'm not sure? The vacuum manufacturers website says the hose and wands end up at nearly 4 metres. Surely a cockroach couldn't walk/fly out of that?

    It was huge and disgusting

Just take out the vacuum bag and try to shake it out. Then, you can dispose of it (I would suggest releasing outside).

Also I didn't know cockroaches could fly. If so that's terrifying.

:lol:My parents want to know why I was laughing so hard after reading this thread and some of the replies. Sorry. Honestly though, I doubt that the cockroach is still alive after being vacuumed up.

I just love how casual this line is.

"Oh, a massive cockroach just flew into my window this morning. Just your average Saturday!"

My initial thoughts on the other hand:

"No. Hell no. Never. He will not. Not through my window. Not now. Not tomorrow. Not ever."

Burn the vacuum. Burn the house. Burn EVERYTHING. Nothing is safe.

    You think I'm kidding.

    I'm not.

I doubt it will actually fly back out, but pounding the bag might just squash it

Otherwise you can empty the bag into a plastic bag or newspaper and throw it away...

Aww, the poor cockroach. You should open the vacuum to see if it's alive. If it is, put it outside.
