Default [Very] The Celloid Closet [Interesting]

I'm currently watching the movie Celloid Closet. And the reason I am currently watching and not just finished watching is that this movie is incredibly interesting.

I suggest you watch it. And if you have it does bring up a really good point.

How are gays and lesbians portrayed in the media?

I mean it starts from the early age and I'm guessing it's going through the ages of film. It's phenomenal just to look at how similar gays were portrayed back then to how they were compared now.

Basically it's been always hidden in the background of films. Which really makes you think today how many of our characters were orginally "gay" in screen.

There was a 1950's film about curing gay-ness.
Really Cool.

And I've heard people say, "Gay is a relatively new thing."

HA!

So you guys think that gay portrayel in film has changed compared to when gays first appeared on film?

Edit: Ben Hur has a subliminal gay love context.

I'm advertising movies. Maybe I should be a producer.
I really kinda wanted to talk aboot the movie's ideas. So that's why it's in chit chat. But if we're going to talk aboot the movie it's gonna be thrown in entertaiment section.

But yes the movie is quite good. But it's kinda sad that most gays now seem to have taken a backwards approach to movies in the 90's. I mean Brokeback mountian was like, "OMG GAY COUPLE IN A MOVIE?" When the 90's had a lot of that already.
