Do gay guys get their toenails painted?

    I recently started getting my toenails painted when I go in for pedicures. The person doing my pedicure mentioned that this was the first time she painted a guy's toenails and I know that that nail salon has a pretty big gay clientele. So I was just wondering if there are other young gay guys out there who paint their toenails.

    I've never painted my toenails but I have used my sister's clear nail polish to try to stop me from biting my nails (yes, I also bit toe nails :lol:slight_smile:.

    I did when I was about 4. It was the saddest thing when my mom said I could only use clear.
    I can't really consider myself doing it now - I'm a little afraid of what others think. I would if that weren't a problem.

    Nah I never have. For anyone that does though, I'd love to hear what the attraction/lure to doing so is. It's never been something I really understood. I've only seen 1 or 2 guy who painted their nails though.

    Several guys on EC have posted about painting their nails after coming out and becoming more comfortable with their sexuality. Maybe it's some type of gay male rite of passage?

    This makes me want to do rainbow colors! But I'm also not out to my parents so I would have to wear socks which a little bit defeats the purpose. Still really want to though. Hmm... debating if I should anyway.

    Whenever I was at a salon when I was younger I would let them do a colorless nail polish on my nails. Then my brother got a girlfriend (Now his wife) who previously worked at salons. Since then we came up with designs and my nails became the canvass of the designs and that is when I started to paint my nails. ^_^

    Just to add, painting toenails wouldn't actually be much revealed if you wear shoes or footwear that hides it. So if you are insecure about it it can be easily hidden.

    I'll never do something like this, but even if it interested me it'd just be too risky. It's like holding a huge sign above my head saying "HEY PEOPLE I'M GAY!"
    I guess it has to do with expressing femininity?
