I've heard of the surname "Cummings". Personally I wouldn't like that either.

I'm not sure what the exact word means, but judging by the word root (diksh-/diksha-) I'm pretty sure the name means something to do with knowledge/learning. It probably means "person with knowledge" or "person who gives knowledge" or something of that sort.

You can't help having a name like that. The root word is from another language (Sanskrit, in this case) There was a girl in my class at school whose name was Harshita and she got teased a LOT for it. I always felt really bad for her because of that.

In High School I knew someone who's last name was "Dick". He has since gotten married, and took his wife's surname with the marriage.

I knew a girl named Rashita (maybe Rishita? I never saw it spelled out in full) but she went by Risha.

So I posted to my Facebook about Sandeep Dikshit. And one of my friends, it turns out, went to elementary school with someone with the even less desirable name Sukdeep Dikshit.

    Oh dear.

    True.
Also, the D and T sounds are pronounced with the tongue between the teeth. It doesn't even sound that strange if you say it properly.
