Minus18 is having another one of their dance parties in the September holidays, this one have the theme of Pirates & Ninjas.

Anyway, if you're under 18 and you don't know about Minus18, check out the link up above and head along if it interests you.

Details on this happening can be found here.

I know that Micah and Firecausesburns volunteer there so it would also be an opportunity to meet some ECers in real life

Lychee is trying to convince me to go, but I'm not too sure. But if you're in Melbourne (or will be in Melbourne) and you're under 18, you might want to check it out.

Ahahaha I know too much about you

And yes, I agree, everyone should go. One of my friends goes, and he totally loves it

When Holly kills for a plane ticket to Melbourne, it'll be your fault.

GO. Seriously. It's awesome. (I'll be the girl who's gone over-the-top with her costume and is in full pirate gear.) That goes for all of you who are nearby!

    hmmm...
    Possible.

Parentals trust - Double check. (they've often said they'd leave me home alone from the week with the cars and the keys and the alcohol cos they know I wouldn't do anything dumb).

    Under18 - Check
Melbourne...?? not quite sure of Check. I will have to talk to my mother. I live past Geelong..but I could catch a train!!!! Would people be dressed as pirates at the station so I know who to look out for??

I''ll probably get stuck with pick-up duty, so I'll be dressed as a pirate standing in the middle of Southern Cross station ;p

The first time I went, I told my parents I was just going to an underage dance party, and did some careful editing of the Code of Conduct, printed it out and gave it to them so they knew how safe it was. (I didn't know that my mother had looked it up and knew full well it was a GLBT thing, but hey, I tried.)

hmm not looking likely at the moment I hate to say. Mum's worried about me travelling by myself on the frankston line at night (my sister lives at the very end of it.)

it's an hour long line. My sister lives in mentone, near the beach. I'm a 50 kg, 5'5" girl. No matter how I'm dressed I'm not going to scare anyone.
My mother is in geelong for a clinical placement so if I caught the train there, I'd have to stay in the city over night, and mum's worried about something happening to me. It's nothing to do with trust, it's all about my safety. I doubt there would be people from mentone coming to Minus 18.

Do you think he would be able to travel with me on the train? If I have someone to go with maybe my parent's wouldn't be freaking out as much.

    ffs....

As it turns out I'm going away on the 23rd... so even if I was convinced that I should go, it's no longer possible :frowning2:... i really wanted to see Micah as a pirate...

(On a side note, I live not far from Mentone, although I usually take the Sandringham line, not the Frankston one)

See thing is...I don't even think it's the line I'm taking. I think it's more the fact that I've grown up in a very safe, sheltered environment (I live in the rural country about two hours from geelong). And the public transport is really safe out here.

But in melbourne, it's "really dangerous at night" (which I assume it is) for a 16 year old girl to travel alone. Or as my mother said, with any openly gay men. Because people get bashed on trains all the time.

So... As much as I'd LOVE to go..I don't think I'm going to be able to make it :tears:
