So today I finally learned how to tie a tie. The career I'm going into (Political Science/Government) will basically require me to know that. I can't believe it took me 17 and a half years to finally learn how, though. I was just wondering how many here know how to tie ties, and which knot you usually go with. This is a boring thread idea, I know. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I go with the Four-In-Hand knot because it's really simple and when I tie Windsors, they aren't long enough.

Nope... If I were a tie it's a clip-on one lol :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I hate buttoning the top button on shirts... I feel like it's choking me.

I do. I'm the only one in my family who really does. Even my dad doesn't know how to properly tie one. xD

Yes, both regular ties and bow ties. My dad has worn a suit to work for decades so he always wears one and taught me at an early age. Plus, for any church or formal event, a coat and tie would be de rigueur in my family.

I prefer the Full Windsor knot with a spread collar shirt, but some ties are too thick or thin to maneuver right and I settle on the four-in-hand knot.

Bow ties are quite easy to tie but many people seem to have issues with them.

I tied a tie every day for 4 years in high school.

I broke my hand on a cruise the first night. I was able to tie my own tie and my brothers with a huge makeshift cast on. I am quite skilled at it.

But I can't tie a bow tie to save my god damn life. So sad.

I hardly ever wear one, but I love ties. I've worn the normal (half windsor?) and also the Eldredge knot, which is stunning when done properly.

Yep! Half and full Windsor. My dad taught me when I was 12. He taught me to shave when I was 20.

I forget how to tie ties sometimes so I just end up Youtubing it. Usually go with the Four-in-Hand knot. Don't have any bow ties for the need so :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I learned at 10, when I was a terrible Harry Potter -freak, my dad bought the tie for me and the first thing I did was to ask him teach me how to tie it  And even before that I had sometimes asked my dad put his tie on me(once I went to school wearing one of dad's ties - never again xd). I don't what is it about ties but I like them :3

My friend in the boys section of my school taught me how when we had nothing else to do once. Ties were part of their school uniform. I dunno what the knot is called though.

I can do it. I just think it's the most inefficient, pointless fucking thing in the universe. The amount of time I've wasted getting ties just right could be spent actually getting a job done. Oh there's a JOB to do? Fuck that, you need to look nice and businesslike in your glorified strangulation bib, spend a few thousand years working on that first.
