Any here? I definitely feel like crap knowing that NYC is so accepting of gays & out of all the little areas that aren't here, I get trapped in one, Staten Island. We're progressing though!

Any other New Yorkers here? & how is it by where you live regarding LGBT?

My mothers' families live there, so if I ever decided to go to the States, I'll most likely end up in NYC

I was born and raised in The Bronx for 13 years. Then we moved over here to NJ.

I miss NYC public transit because you can go anywhere. Over here, you have to drive to get to most places.

I'm not sure about the LGBT scene in NYC because I never saw anyone queer/perceived to be queer in my neighborhood. My high school did not have an LGBT club either, so yeah...

I'm originally a New Yorker (Buffalo).

Buffalo is far better than this dump known as Erie.

In fairness, Erie isn't all that bad of a city in the summer (winters are just brutal), and Pennsylvania as a whole is really improving in terms of the economy.

But yeah, there's some crazy people in this area, but I think that's everywhere.

I am..... i think i kinda stressed that a bit too much =P

well it depends on how you see it though. there's a lot of LGBT scenes around here, but the one that gets perceived the most is the nightclubs and bar lifes. i'm somewhat involved in the LGBT and somewhat not. it reallly depends. i met a few gay metalheads here and hoping to meet more. a buddy of mine and i decided to start some kind of wolfpack for LGBT individuals who are into metal and band together. his dream is to walk down the parade as a metalhead. so don't give up =P

i'm from Queens by the way haha. it's pretty diverse here, but i know quite a few LGBT people are scared to be open about it. Staten Island's progressing, i've seen quite a few people from staten island making the effort in making their center known around there. Brooklyn is just the same as Queens, it's getting there, more open and populated each year. Bronx kinda got a kick back because of some scandal. Manhattan....well enough said haha.

Born and raised in NY, from L.I.
Although I don't have that many gay friends.
Mostly straight friends, I find them less intimidating. Especially in NYC.
But doesn't mean I wouldn't mind finding a great gay companion to talk to about Art, Sports and etc... I would enjoy that.

Upper east side is aiit, I mean it's accepting and all but there's very little in the way of LGBT stuff; a couple gay bars but only for men, not women.

My ex was in brooklyn and she didn't want to hold hands walking around her neighborhood because she was scared of getting raped. It wasn't that bad of a neighborhood, and plus there were other LGBT people, so I think she was overly paranoid, but then again, stuff happens.
