So, it's graduation season and one thing people get is diplomas. What do you do with diplomas or plan to eventually do with them?

My high school diploma is stashed away in a safe (smaller than a standard sheet of paper, but I like the gold NHS foil sticker :lol:slight_smile:

The International Baccalaureate diplomas that I got in high school were professionally framed by a friend of the family as a graduation gift and those hang on a small alcove of my room (regardless of what you think of a "high school equivalent diploma" being hung, I am very grateful that I was gifted the framing).

My BA came in a mailer (not tube) and was larger than a standard sheet of paper (11x14") so it had to be framed in a cheapo frame just so that it wouldn't get creased in storage because I hate creases on any official documents. I'll eventually hang it below the IB diplomas (once I find the drill anchor screws) just because it fits nicely there and no one will really see it. If I work in an office setting where it's customary for people to hang their diplomas, I will do so. I know for people in certain licensed professions, it is de rigueur to display them; though I doubt economics fits that bill :roflmao:.

I'll probably put my second degree certificate in my portfolio with the rest of my certificates.

    Happy days

Keep them in a drawer or a file, out of risk of damage and the danger of appearing vain.

I though you asked what I'd want to do, as in what I'd want to achieve with the accreditation signified by the diplomas.

My HS diploma is sitting comfortably on a bookshelf in my room. Like you, I like the MAO gold foil sticker. Don't have a NHS but have a MAO sticker. My high school diploma may be a trinket to be laying around in my future high school classroom to give kids encouragement. My college degree and my masters (Hope I get a masters) may get the same treatment and both be hung up in my classroom. Or my masters be hung in the classroom and my undergrad be hung wherever I live.

True, in the US, in common parlance, "diplomas" refer to the actual piece of paper that you get from the academic institution. "Degree" refers to the academic degree you were awarded when you were graduated from the university.

My highschool diploma is somewhere safe, I'm sure. My college one is framed and it currently sitting on top of my bed stand. Eventually, I'll get it hanged up.

I have every award and certificate I got from Junior High onwards decorating my wall so the high school and college diplomas are framed in the center

On a side note I was always kinda disappointed that my bachelor's didn't actually list the major I took on the diploma... I asked someone in the registrar's office about it and she said it was the norm for our university, the diplomas just say Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science on it and not the major :/

Just kidding... I don't even have my GED yet.

I plan on going to community college. Once that's done, I'm going to a university.

I'm going to make my mother pay for calling me stupid. I going to make her (and my spoiled, bitchy step-siblings) jealous of my educational achievements.

High school: in a drawer in its cardboard sleeve.
College: in a drawer in its "leather" sleeve.
Graduate school: in a big tube.
Law School: in a big tube
Bar association licensing/oath of office: in a small tube.

I eventually want to frame my college, graduate, and law diplomas as well as my bar association certificate and oath of office.

I've been a lawyer for 10+ years and I make this promise every year.

My university does the same thing and I'm only going to get one degree even though I'm double majoring, which I don't think is a big deal.

"Bachelor of Arts" with my name is more than good enough for me.

My high school diploma is sitting on a bookshelf collecting dust.... I think. I have no idea where my mom put it. All I know is that its not in a frame and not some place safe.

  18. omg what I WANT to do is light all of my diplomas on fire when I'm done with school and roast a goddamn marshmallow and laugh and laugh.

but honestly I'll probably keep them all in the safe at my mom's place until I get the one for my PhD and then hang them all in perfectly respectable frames.

My mom collects them or something. I have my high school undergrad and two masters she has. I don't need them. I know I know what I need to know don't need no piece of paper.

My high school diploma is on my desk at my parents' house. My BCom is on the wall in a nice frame.
