I know I'm kinda late, but I just came across this compilation of many political cartoons regarding same-sex marriage. Some are pretty funny, others, well, leave something to be desired.

For me, the one that probably gave me the most poignant one was #37.

There are quite a few to flip through. Like you said, they are comical, ridiculous, poignant, and sarcastic.

The one that cracks me up is Obama saying "Now let's talk about that flip-flopper, Romney." Romney is 2 people - a chameleon that acts one way when he had to govern MA and a person that would have been a 180 if he had to govern UT or ID. I've talked about this with friends and, while we really don't know what Obama thinks and believes, had he been against same-sex marriage, Romney could currently be our President. Younger people would have either abstained from voting or they would have voted for Romney. It was a calculated strategic move, to say the least. And, yes, I know I am not giving full consideration to the mechanics of the electoral college.

It is interesting. Many of the cartoons did focus on how Obama "evolved" on the issue. Whether his personal beliefs conflicted with the issue (or, perhaps a conflation of of his personal belief and political calculus that made him hold off on declaring his support for SSM) and the fact that he needed not to alienate voters in 2008.

Honestly, as a millennial, the only reason why I voted in 2012 was because my college campus was a voting place . While I won't say who I voted for, I will say that on the ballot, there were many offices for which I did not vote for a candidate and left it blank given that I couldn't stomach either one.

That one is enough to make me cry. What an incredibly ridiculous world.
