I've heard people say that a 3 on the kinsey scale is pretty rare. I've also heard the same thing said about kinsey 0s and 6s. Are there any actual statistics on this? If my orientation really fit on a kinsey scale it would be a 3. Or an imaginary number.

Kinsey said that 0s and 6s were a small percentage of the populatoin, something around 10% if I remember correctly. Everyone else is somewhere on the spectrum, though an average population clusters closer to 0 and 1 than to 5 and 6.

My understanding is that pure bisexuals (Kinsey 3s) were also pretty unusual.

    Maybe rare, but not non-existent. I'm a 6 and I've met 3's.

I've done more than one test and sometimes I got 3 and sometimes 4. But I'm biromantic so that might affect its accuracy.

I saw the thread title and immediately thought "Yes, they are rare." That's an almost perfect division and fluidity between a physical and/or emotional attraction to both genders. While anything is possible, I think this is one of the rarest people on the Kinsey spectrum. I wonder how prevalent 4s are. I've not taken this test. I think Kinsey was onto something, but I've read time and time again that his methodology would not be good enough for a research study carried out today.

Keep in mind, none of the online tests I've ever seen are very accurate indicators of a Kinsey score. Most of them you can take with a grain of salt. What really matters is understanding yourself, and a Kinsey score from a questionable online test doesn't really do a lot to help that.

The thing with the Kinsey scale is it marks you on integers. I highly doubt something like sexuality can be divided strictly into categories.

Also what Chip said about online tests is true :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    The first test I took I got a 6.
But after taking a few more I realized I can score anywhere between 4, 5 and 6 depending on the test.

I'm a 6/X apparently, so I'm homoromantic, I don't think I will tell anyone though, homosexual is hard enough to explain to some people

I think it would be very hard to be attracted to both sexes equally because men and women are so different.
