so my partner and i have decided on starting our family and we have the perfect girls name but just dont have a boys name but we dont want a run of the mill type name we want something different but not too different if that makes sense
Congratz on starting your family. :icon_bigg(*hug*) I don't know how different they are but my favorite westerner names are Trevor, Scott and Arthur.
There are many websites that list the top 100 or even top 1000 names used in the past several years. If you google "top 1000 baby names" you'll find them easily. It's actually great fun to go through them and see what might or might not be appealing. There are some very old-fashioned names that are coming back which can be kind of fun, particularly of either of you has a close family and wants to honor someone. When my wife and I started our family, we agreed immediately that the first girl would have my mother's name as her middle name, and the first boy would have her father's name, since both of them had died and we wanted to honor them. We had two girls so the second ended up with her beloved grandmother's name as the middle name instead. But we tried out several different first names during the two pregnancies (and had to make adjustments because of awkward initials!) before we picked the ones that stuck. We never did agree on boys' names, so it's just as well that we had two girls.
I like.. Aaron, Scott, Trent, Chase, Adam, Hunter and many others.. I can't think of the rest. Sorry but I just have to do this.. WAZZAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for (beyond the "not too normal but not too strange" thing), but my favorites for boys have always been Lucian and Julian.
Congratz. For boys, I like traditional-sounding (old-timey) names that seem to be getting less common. Theodore, Oscar, Benjamin, Kenneth, Ellis, Patrick, that sort of thing.
That actually reminds me... Luke and Leia. Also, Éowyn and Éomer. .... y'all better hope I never have children, for their sake.
I like Lukas and if he doesn't like it he could go by Luke. Although, he may get made fun of a bit but that happens for anything.
I like Nash, Cody, Ethan and Neil. If I ever have a kid I would want to name it after me but instead of calling him Kyle Jr. I would spell Kyle as Kiel.
In the Jewish tradition it's common to name after deceased family members as a way of honoring their memory, which is how I got my name (no, SemiCharmed is not my actual first name). If I ever have kids, that's how I'm going to pick their names, even if it's not the same exact name. Are there any relatives you might want to name your child after? That may be a place to start.
Why do you think I like Scott? Probably I'd shout "Optic Blast" to poor kid's face everyday. ---------- Post added 6th Jun 2014 at 09:39 PM ---------- Is Otto a real name? I only know it from Otto's Resistible Dance spell and similar named D&D spells. I was thinking it was a made up name... like Melf or Mordenkainen. Mordenkainen sounds cool too tho'
Other possibilities... River, Simon (although I'd hate the name without the character), Malcolm, Jayne...
