In older days the LGBT character was killed in the end but now I've noticed an alternative ending for these characters in modern cinema: LGBT people end up alone, because his/her partner cheats on him with a member of the opposite sex (the typical bisexual stereotype), or because only one of them is open and the other is closeted These are some movies with similar ending where the gay character (s) ends up either alone or miserable (or both!) (SPOILER ALERT): -Get real -Wild reeds -Brokeback Mountain -My own private idaho -Notes on a scandal -C.R.A.Z.Y. -The Hours -Hedwig and the angry inch -Gods and monters (well this based on actual events) -Mysterious Skin -The kids are all right -2:37 -Threesome -Mullholland Dr. -L.I.E. -The Opposite of sex - many foreign indie LGBT films
- Flamboyant, feminine male. - Alternatively, the 'straight acting' guy who's there to fight back queer stereotypes but to the point where he's a stereotype himself
Yes, and I think the bad thing about this particular stereotype isn't the fact that the guy is flamboyant or femenine, the bad thing about it is they highlight these elements of his personality to make fun of him
Most gay men are effeminate hairdressers and interior decorators. Most lesbians are butch mechanics and athletes.
That's cuz stays harmlessly chaste that way. If there were more than one, the audience wouldn't believe they wouldn't all be fucking each other all the time. :rolle:
