I can't seem to get myself to go to sleep right away. It takes me like two to three hours every night. I'm always up until 1-2 in the morning. It freakin drives me crazy, well at least more so than I already am. It's not that I hate sleeping but going to sleep is the problem; I have no problem staying asleep though. I think it's because I worry a lot at night which worsens my depression.

Any of you have this problem?

Everynight.... I'm a night owl actually but, right now I'm under alot of stress and, I have so much thinking and wondering in my head.

I have to go to school and, waking up on 7, when I go to bed on ~4... it's nightmare. I can't go a day without a cup (sometimes 2-3 cups) of coffee.

*hugs* I have Insomnia too, in the typical bouts of it. Generally 2/3 weeks with it, 2/3 weeks without. It drives you crazy after a while.

Absolutely. There was an event, namely an employer, that brought it on. I have been medicated ever since. And, if it works, don't fix it. One doctor wanted me to wean myself off of the meds, and go natural. It was something I didn't want to experiment with, seeing I'd be a mess next day at work. However, two doctors later, they are still giving me Ambien and some Clonazepam. Needless to say, I do sleep and, even with these two meds, I sometimes wake up a little too early and go right back to bed for an additional two hours of snooze time.

I used to take Ambien and Klonopin too, but my tolerance went through the roof. I'd take an Ambien, go to sleep, wake up two hours later and take another. I was advised not to take the clonazepam at the same time, so I'd take a couple mg of K-pin in the evening to try to "wind down" a bit. Wasn't a perfect regimine, but I got SOME sleep. Nowadays I'm lucky to get two hours a night.

I would if I didn't take prescriptions for it (and did for many years before taking those drugs).

For the record, prescription drugs are never recommended - attempt to improve your sleep habits and hygiene first.

In the end, though, I prefer getting 8 hours of sleep a night by way of drugs, rather than trying to fall asleep for 5-6 hours followed by only actually getting 1-3 hours of shut-eye per night.

I found that the two together do the trick. When more stressed, they might pull me partway through the night. When less stressed, they do their job more quickly and efficiently. I often take them an hour before going to sleep and, if I'm writing, posting, or calculating something, I find I might make a mistake or two. But, at least I'm not getting behind the wheel of a car for late night munchies!

Yes, I've even been to classes on this, and have been introduced to mindfulness. It's easier said than done. I can't control how my thoughts flow all that easily. So, if you take the stresses to bed and think about them, quality sleep is difficult. As long as there are no side effects, and I haven't had any, I may stick with these scrips for a while.

Yeah, I tried doing things like that for three years straight... no help. Still got 1-3 hours of sleep a night, after spending half a night trying to fall asleep.

At least I actually get sleep now...

I don't know about insomnia but I do know my sleep schedule is messed up... I can go to bed at 8PM and be asleep by 9PM but if I go to bed at 10PM or 11PM I'm usually awake until 2AM or 3AM... Idk. I'm usually up until 2AM or 3AM. I've also been waking up at 5AM for no apparent reason the last couple of weeks... Which is annoying.

I usually fall asleep anytime after 2:30. I usually have to be up at 8 to go to work. On my days off however Im in bed till Noon or 1 PM. It really does suck.

Yea, I just worry about about taking sleeping pills or meds because it could mess up your ability to naturally fall alseep without them, possibly.
