What do you think of some straight people who say "I support gay people, but I'm sick of homosexuality being shoved down my throat"?

I am sick and tired of straight men in particular feeling the need to verify their sexuality at every opportunity by excessively talking about boobs, vaginas and football. I wish they would stop shoving their heterosexuality down my throat.

YouTube comment sections epitomise this for me - with every video with even a fleeting glance of a scantly-clad woman being referred to as '90% porn, 10% music'. One would think they are overcompensating for something.

But anyway, homosexuality is 'shoved down their throat' precisely because of the way they treat it - like it's an abnormality. If they treated homosexuality as a normal variant of human sexuality, people probably wouldn't be as 'in your face' about it. I think most people do, but a significant minority don't.

I also think stating your support for gay people at the start of such a statement is just a way of covering up real, bigoted views - because they don't want to be called out as a homophobe. 'I'm not racist, but..' comes to mind.

I would respond with the fact the Heterosexuality is shoved down everyone's throat, advertising, tv, radio. You name it it's all about heterosexuality.

Those that say homosexuality is shoved down peoples throats are obviously uncomfortable with it, it's something that should be pointed out to them, something for them to review and ponder.

I won't say its shoved down my throat, but I walk down the street in Pittsburgh and I passed someone and I bumped them on accident and they yelled "watch it straighty!" In the most metrosexual voice I've ever heard, hate goes in all directions, unavoidable, welcome to life, take a ticket number and wait for your turn to suffer. Lol

Every movie, TV show, song, music video, etc. shoves heterosexuality down the LGBT community's throat... People who say that "Homosexuality is being shoved down their throat," obviously is not aware of anything going on around them- half naked woman in every movie, and music video, guys talking about "banging girls" on YouTube or on the radio and people making out anywhere in public. Mhmm, and tell me more about how you support homosexuality if you can't stand even a little exposure. :l What a wonderful society

What constitutes shoving it down their throats anyway, is anything that isn't complete invisibility?

I really hate when straight people say stuff like that. Straight people shove heterosexuality down our throats. They are the main reason why we feel guilty for being who we are. It's just so frustrating to here that.

Agree with you all. Sometimes even something innocent such as a gay person talking about their boyfriend/girlfriend or crushes is seen as "shoving it", yet straight people can do the same casually. That's what bugs me the most.

I view it as an equally-bigoted cousin to "I'm not racist, but..." :rolle:

It will be a long long time, if ever, when that goes away, its unfortunately the way people think, and for the most part, no changing their opinions. Love and Tolerate, that's what my little pony teaches =) too bad not more people can take that lesson lol.

I'll stop shoving it down their throats when they stop talking about their partners. Boo-hoo gay people exist.
    Have they seen the media.

Obviously I'm only talking about bigots not all straight people.

That's what my birth-dad mom's sperm donor says, basically.

He says "It's OK for you to be gay, but you need to stop this Nazi, gay agenda crap." So, wanting to be treated as equally as straight people makes me some kind of Nazi?

Was Martin Luther King a "Nazi?" I think not. If black people never stood up for themselves, they would've never gotten the rights they have today. Why shouldn't LGBT people do the same?

Thank goodness he didn't raise me...

Yeah, they're just people who don't appreciate a minority getting their way. They would deep down inside rather everything be the same for minority groups.
