I'm curious, what do you think of painted fingernails or toenails on guys? Also is it acceptable for everyday situations in your opinion?

If the guys comfortable with it, I say go for it...don't know why people get so hung up over it anyway!

I don't see why it would be a problem if that's what that person wants to do but I wouldn't do it myself just because I don't really like the idea of cosmetics but that's just a person belief I have.

I'm pretty sure this topic has come up before. If the guy likes it or otherwise doesn't mind why should it matter?

In my mind "what is acceptable" is constrained only by actions that directly harm others or coercion of an individual's will. (And I treat disapproval of anything that does not violate this with hostility...)

I'm personally fond of nails that have been painted black, on guys; beyond that I wouldn't call them anything beyond intriguing.

Anyone can do it, but it's a turn off for me.

Whether it's acceptable depends on the situation. If the guy is working at Forever 21, I'm sure he can get away with it, but an investment banker who paints his nails will draw questioning looks from even the more supportive LGBT folks, myself included. Culture and protocol can be very powerful things.

On a guy, I am about 99% sure I would not click with a guy who regularly paints his nails. I find it a bit off-putting but, more importantly, it would show that the person is unconventional and nontraditional, traits that I find unappealing.

That said, every person has a right to do as they please with their body so long as it doesn't hurt others (*shudders* ear gauges).

Do it if you want. In many situations, it's fine. However, some situations make it inappropriate. AlamoCity's already covered workplace, but other events like funerals, commemoration days etc., also render it inappropriate. That goes for women, too. It also depends on what. If you paint your nails vibrant pink, that's likely to be inappropriate in most professional situations. But if you paint them a near-natural colour to make them look reasonably glossy and healthy, that's acceptable in almost any situation.

My rule is this; if a woman can do it in the same situation, so can a man, and vice-versa for other sexist rules.

Go ahead and do whatever you want, but it's definitely not something I'd like.

I'm all for people doing whatever they want, but I don't like black nails, or any dark nail polish in general, because it looks weird. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

I wouldn't go for anything other than a French manicure (I'm dying to get one).

I enjoy some glitter polish on my nails sometimes. It makes me feel more fabulous! It also makes me less straight-appearing.

Any guy with a slighter build can look awesome with painted fingernails. I don't do my own (don't think I'll look good and I'm nowhere near the right situation to do it >.<), but I prefer black on others. And for guy's toenails, an area where I have a special interest , no polish is the best. Painted toenails are too much I think, but if I ever saw it, it wouldn't turn me off hehe.

It's nail polish. The label doesn't say "For girls only". There is no law saying that men can't wear it and I've seen many straight guys wearing nail polish. A lot of straight rock band members use nail polish. People like Carson Daly and Jon Pardy have worn nail polish and no one says much about it. There's really nothing wrong with a guy wearing nail polish.

I have a good looking man friend who always has black and/or red nailpolish on.
    It's fine

It's fine in ALL situations, those places need to lighten up. *snaps fingers* What you wear has nothing to do with what you are doing. This is the 21st century. :3

    A) Don't care for it, particularly the black Goth looking stuff.

    B) I think of it more as a "kid" sort of thing; can't say I have ever seen it on an adult male.

I would personally not be interested in doing it, but if someone wants to, then it falls under the same category as tattoos; not my thing, but it doesn't bother me if anyone else wants to.

Makes me think of Eddie Izzard.

I also wish I could personally paint mine more often!
