Just curious. There are a lot of people here who are opposed to monarchies, known as republicans in europe.

As a euro-republican, if I had the misfortune to meet this country's queen, I'd probably call her Mrs Windsor, or 'Liz' once I got to know her better.

I met Queen E. II. What a waste of taxation. Totally up herself and rude. Please Australia, cut those apron strings.

Sir, or Madam, or another non-deferential title (eg. Señor el Rey for the Spanish king). In English, you can't exactly say "Mrs. Queen," as you can in some other languages, so again, just Sir or Madam/Ma'am.

I wouldn't give up on my principles unless I were obligated by necessity, such as a formal presentation/ceremony, which I doubt I'd be in or speaking at. (Only if they were present and it were actually important)

I was at a republican event (family friend is a politician and the boredom ensued), and she had to refer to the queen as "Her Majesty," even while arguing against the existence of monarchy in Australia. It's sickening how it's stifled not just to criticise, but even to merely not recognise their social superiority.

I'm not a fan of the Monarchy.
Miserable tart who hardly ever smiles and Prince Charles who is so out if touch, he doesn't get why we don't all convert our Aston Martins to run on wine.

I think old Prince Phillip is quite an interesting character though.

    ^Love it.

I'd probably greet her, in an ideal fantasy world, with a photo of all the Irishmen who were wrongfully killed in the troubles by British Death Squads and then remind her that she pardoned their murderers.

That's a good way to do it. Or subtly remind her about all the near-genocidal colonial British whom she knighted/granted lordship to.

Reminds me of how I've heard politicians refer to each other as "the right, honorable gentleman' whilst insulting each other.

Not really sure how I'd refer to a monarch. I'd pick something quite neutral, without being rude or offensive.

I think monarchy is a complete waste of time.

    Depends on the monarch.

For Prince Albert of Monaco talking would be last thing in my mind.

He may have been okay when he was young, but Google Images shows me pictures of a balding rice pudding.

I wouldn't show anything beyond something like the equivalent of "Mr President". I have no problem with titles like "Sir or Lady" since nowadays those are earned.

I have no respect for hereditary titles.

Would love to give them the finger, but probably the same as anyone else with no "Your Majesty" ^_^
