when I first heard the word pansexual I thought it was people who were sexually attracted to and had sex with pans . It's not till a few people have corrected me that I found out that was not the case . I was 15 at the time

cisgender is someone that's born male or female .

pansexual is someone who falls in love with people regardless of sex or gender identity .
if I'm getting it wrong please any pansexual person feel free to correct me

Hopefully I can help. Cisgender is just a label for people who identify as their assigned birth sex, akin to the term heterosexual for people who like the opposite sex.

As for pansexual i'm not 100% sure, but from what I've learned its just someone who is attracted to someone based on the person, regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, etc.

That's what I thought too. I was like "There are people who like to shag pans? WTF"

At first, I couldn't tell the difference between pansexual and bisexual.
From a "never been there / never done that" point of view, I guess I'll never truely and completely understand either of them.

Middle school, surprisingly, is when I first heard pansexual. It came up when discussing Greece. I just never really thought too much about it then.

That's what i thought and i would always picture them doing it when someone said to me one time I'm pansexual I said so you like to have sex with pans and then they told me no they like to have sex with people and not pans . I even thought they take the pans on dates too I was very confused about it back then

I still don't fully get the difference between the two but still willing to learn

I only discovered that such a thing exists when I came on here, along with demisexual, homoromantic, biromantic and other terms that I've never heard uttered in real life.

I thought "wow, what amazing people who see beyond gender and appreciate the 'soul' of the person". That was a pretty long time ago. I still think the same thing.

Phew, I'm glad there's a few others who had this cross their minds.

I also thought at first, it meant they were attracted to 'everything', or whatever they might like, given that 'pan' means everything', as a prefix. So at one point, I thought it included men, women, trans, animals, plants, and everything else, potentially, on a case by case basis.

The thought of someone making out with a pan came to mind, lol.

But I quickly disregarded that as an idea...

I thought it meant anything turned them on so even if they saw a hole in a doughnut they would be turned on but then I later found out what it really meant
