Studies suggest that about 1-5% of the population identifies as LGBT. However these statistics seem faulty to me. Most of them were done through surveys and they obviously haven't asked every single person in the world, and even if they did there may be many circumstances that the individual may be lying or simply hasn't accepted or developed their sexual or gender identity. Is it safe to say these stats are unrepresentative and there are more of us in the world than many people may think?

I'd say it is 5-10% but who really knows...

I think it's a lot more than that, at least where I live. My spidey senses go wild at the mall.

It's kind of weird because I think my gaydar worked better before I had fully come out to myself as weird as that sounds. Now, I am getting a lot of false reads after further reviewing.

I've read something before about ancient China, I think it was the second or third century, where it was reported that almost half the population was gay/bi. This was before Christianity moved in.

But yeah, I think the currently reported numbers are low.

I'd say they're probably higher than that, like 7-20%.

But that's very hard to determine...

Not even close to the actual amount. I will never forget straight guy I met online, that told me he did a survey at his college to figure out how many people are actually gay and lesbian. Then applied the results to all the gay and lesbian people in the world. And would say your a minority I did a survey and know how many gay people there are, when I told him some of those people could of lied on the survey and the people in the survey did not count for every one in the world he talked like if he was some scientist .:rolle:
