Props to that. All that anti-LGBT people manage to do is confuse and depress kids to no end. I speak from experience (and I assume most of us do, sadly)
we're not all perfect..... but i can say we're the most progressive. i get sick of stuff when it comes to any kind of media painting anyone as "perfect" haha that's my thought about the title. on the other hand, i'm glad that they're launching a campaign about ending conversion therapy. it needs to heard.
Like Bolt35, I'm not really keen on the title. It really goes against my views of being transgender. Some people are OK with being born as the opposite sex they would prefer to be, as seen in the recent thread that has been made, but some others prefer if they would just be born as the sex they want. So the "LGBT people were born perfect" seems to be ironic to me. However, I support their cause. I think that's what matters most, really. Conversion therapy is just a very, very sad thing...
what if i was born as a lesbian half shark is this still "perfect" according to society's HUMANISTIC BIAS???? HM???? HMMM?!!!?!?!?!
Nobody is perfect. We're just pretty darn awesome XD And nobody is going to be able to get rid of this much awesome. Ever. XD
I'd agree. Its a good message, but boy do I hate the delivery. Firstly #anything gets my goat (see what I did there!). It not only sounds annoying but these sort of twitter tag campaigns just come across as incredibly shallow to me. For example you get something like: #stopworldpoverty. Well that's certainly a message people can get behind, but what the hell has putting a hashtag in front of it achieved in the grand scheme of things?! It reminds me of the whole #Kony business a few years back, where unsurprisingly people quickly lost interest and moved onto the next fad campaign with little changing overall. Secondly, born "perfect"? Now I get what they are trying to say, that gay people are natural and healthy, but it unfortunately comes across as sounding somewhat egotistical or obnoxious. Nobody's perfect as the saying goes, and declaring yourself perfect is an open invitation for criticism! :icon_wink
Paradoxically... if you think about it... saying that nobody is perfect is the same as saying everyone's perfect. If there is no such thing as completely perfect or completely imperfect - then the scale and polarities don't exist. So everyone in between the non-existant poles (meaning everyone that exists) is simultaniously perfect and imperfect. Philosophy makes my head spin sometimes. Sorry if it doesn't make sense to everyone. Peace! (*hug*)
i thought trans people needed to take care of their dysphoria problem, so they sorta aren't born perfect
Everyone, but especially Christians in the LGBT community, needs to see this movie. Kidnapped For Christ
There was also a documentary that I saw on TV here recently called Meet the young Americans: Gay in the US by Stacey Dooley I can't seem to find anywhere on the internet that it can be watched or downloaded though.
If I was born perfect then why do I have type 1(the kind where it's not from eating sugar) diabetes? I don't think anyone's born perfect, but I suppose it's a nice message.
"Perfection" is subjective, so it's pretty much impossible for every lesbian and gay guy and bisexual and trans person to be perfect. Besides, if I'm so perfect, then why wasn't I born as cisgender male? And why am I so damn short? Conversion therapy doesn't work. We already know that. However, don't people have the right to be wrong? Well, since the people who run these businesses are (to put it bluntly) either delusional or con artists, we're better off stopping conversion therapy altogether. This is a case where the government needs to protect its citizens- stopping conversion therapy has the potential to save lives, so it's worth it.
