My role model is Mike C Manning who starred in Real World DC. He is a gay Christian and very open about it. To see someone like him in the media on TV with the ability to come out to his parents was a real turning point for me. It was 2010 when the show aired, and it took some time for me to get confident enough to do it. I had honestly planned to stay closeted my whole life, but his bravery put the possibility on the table.

Well...My role model is Lady Gaga. All y'all should know who she is, but my favorite musician! I love her because of all her support (I met her a few weeks ago).

Troye Sivan. his coming out video gave me an amazing amount of confidence to come out
to my parents and helped me find out who I was sexually. He is a great inspiration and wonderful role model to me

I should say i never really got the what whole ''buzz'' around neil patrick harris was about. Recently i've learnt more about him and admire how he doesn't make everything be about his sexuality. He's gay, is unapologetic about it and, at the same time, makes no big deal about it.

  14. For those who are LGBTQ themselves, Kesha, Tyler Jesse Ferguson, MK Nobilette, Tegan and Sara, Ellen, Amber Heard, and George Takei are the only ones I can think of. There's also this girl named Faith who I know that's been really helpful and inspiring too^^

For people who just support the LGBTQ community, it'd be Demi Lovato, all the Modern Family cast, Zendaya, Taeyeon from Girls Generation and Jonghyun from SHINee.

I have to say, for a long time it was Matt Kailey, a trans blogger and writer. He was one of my first introductions to the trans community and I've actually written back and forth with him a couple times.

But now, I dunno. I think honestly my role models are the people I know and get to watch navigate the world before me. I've got a lot of LGBT friends and it's even fair to say that a lot of people here on EC have been something of role models to me.

I would also agree with Ellen and George Takei as 2nd and 3rd for me as they are some of the most visible it seems.

I agree, George Takei would be mine. I think it's brilliant that even though he is gay and is a hugely visible activist its not the defining feature of him. Also I'm a huge trekkie an I have to love Takei.
