I have a theory that more LGBT people consider themselves to be on the left end of the political spectrum than the right, and I made this poll to find out. I tried to be as inclusive as possible, but I'm not sure they will all fit. I don't know anything about political parties outside of the US, so they aren't included. Sorry.

Oh man apparently I didn't click the create poll button. If a mod could add one with the options
    Democrat
    Republican
    Libertarian
    Green party
Constitution party (like anyone's going to vote for it)
    Any of the socialist parties
    United states pacifist party
    Independent American party
    Pirate party
    Objectivist party
    Any of the communist ones
    American Populist party
And I'm getting tired of listing, so the last one will be other(please specify)

Well, I'm working in a congressional re-election campaign for a Republican congressman. But I disagree with both Republicans and Democrats on some significant issues.

I am more of a moderate conservative with a libertarian streak, and most Republicans today are neoconservatives. As for Democrats, many of them are progressives, which like neoconservatism is an ideology that I really disagree with.

    At present, I guess Independent.

Living in Texas, it seems that Texas Republicans won't be getting my vote anytime soon, especially with their current platform.

Libertarian? There are some people who call themselves that but end up just pushing their views on others like every other party. It is the party for protecting and expanding freedom, and that philosophy leads to a lot of other good ideas.

And I could have sworn "independent" means no affiliation. You form your own opinions. I feel this is the best, but with so much variety, nothing would get accomplished. :/

I definitely agree with most if not all of the ideals of the green party.

On the ballot box, there have been several situations where no one candidate was someone I could vote for and simply did not cast a ballot for that office. At the local level, I've voted for members affiliated with both parties, but at the state/federal level I find it much difficult to vote Republican. Just last major election, I at least got the chance to cast a vote against Ted Cruz .

I have no qualms voting for either party, but the candidate's rhetoric and viewpoints are very important when it comes time for voting. I've never straight-ticket voted.

I just took the political compass test, and it reaffirms that I am in fact extremely liberal. I think the party I would affliate most with would be the Democratic Socialists, but the U.S. party is non electoral. [IMG]

Applying this to Canadian politics? If there was a party representing the dissatisfied and disaffected people of Canada, I'd run to be their leader. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I do not affiliate with any party. However, I'm socially liberal and fiscally conservative. I'm also for personal freedoms and small government. So, if I had to be labeled, Libertarian would probably fit better than the rest.

I voted for Gary Johnson in 2012(Libertarian), however the Constitution Party holds a lot of common ideals with me save for gay marriage. I also like Ron Paul Republicans and Justin Amash from my home state. So, independent who is somewhere between REVOLution Republican, Libertarian, and Constitution Party. I am proud to have voted for Gary in the last election. I would do so again in a heartbeat. At the time, I did not favor gay marriage(b/c I was closeted completely and thought civil unions were enough); I have no regrets now that I am better educated on the topic.

I'm mostly liberal; I would go independent except independent has a much less chance of winning majority votes. Both republicans and democrats have their issues, but I think republicans are a bit worse than democrats.

Democratic socialist is probably the most accurate term for me. I admit I'm not very knowledgeable about the parties though, and since in the US the republicans and democrats are the ones with the best chance of getting elected so I support the democrats
