I have actually , what happened was I was going out to a gay bar to celebrate pride and I lied to my mom and dad and said I was going with my straight female friends to pick up guys and they believe me without question and I told her the lie she agree to help me with the lie and when i came back they asked me how it was and I just said I met some guys but I didn't want to date anyone . I ended up making friends with a few people at pride and when they text me my dad assumes it 's some guy I met at the party .

Probably isn't applicable, but I lied to my parents for about five weeks when I had a boyfriend. I said I was single because I didn't want them to know I was in a LDR.

Every time I go to my BF. I tell my folks I am going to friends for some socialising and then when it gets late and I want to spend the night I tell them I'd rather crash by the friends place than risk driving back home late at night.

No, but I've lied about having a boyfriend. Back when I was dating my ex, my mother and sisters would always catch me smiling or seemingly randomly giggling and would ask if I had a crush on someone or if I was in love, to which I said "no" so as not to arouse suspicion.

I had some secret "friends with benefits" before I started dating.

As a closeted 18 year old and still living with my parents, I often lied about how I met or how I knew a "friend", just so we could "hang out" or they could "stay stay the night" without too many questions.

They were actually from the internet, but I told mum and dad that I knew them through another friend or from uni or something.
I actually told them once that a guy was there so I could fix his computer (I used to run a small/local business) - I even made him bring his computer in with him.

If a teenager is reading this - DON'T DO WHAT I DID.
It was stupid, irresponsible and kind of dangerous.

I've never actually told mum and dad what really happened with those guys.
It's probably best to leave the past in the past with those ones.
This is the first time I've ever told anyone about those experiences (other than the friends themselves).

    Peace! (*hug*)

Many times in the past I lied to them where I was going when I was going on a date! I used to always arrange the dates I'm a different place, like a different city just to minimise the chances of getting caught. I used to feel so guilty for lying to my parents though!

I've lied to my mum about meeting people. I would usually tell her that I'm going to meet friends, or that I'm staying over at a friend's place. I just tell her straight-up where I'm going now, and of course she isn't bothered - she knows that I can handle myself, and I'm 18, so there is nothing she can do in any case.

Oh, of course. I had relationships with people I never even told my parents I was anymore than friends with.

Yeah. I usually say to my mom that I'm going to spend the night at a friend's house or go over to my dad's house. When I'm with my dad, I do the opposite (going to my mom's house, to campus), and go on a date instead.

To my parents? no. To my sister - I would say withheld information. I told her I was going on a walk, which was partially the truth, I just withheld additional information. Asking me where I'm going is not really so much a question as when I go for a walk, I go everywhere.

So as far as my parents are concerned, I've never been on a date.

i think i lied about going on a date once -- i told them i was going with one of my friends as opposed to on a date.

my parents don't really know what i do, where i go, or who i hang out eith, but that's more due to me not telling them and they not asking.

I was going to say no and then another thread reminded me that I once carried on a beach blanket romance for several days with a lovely Canadian gentleman while in Puerto Vallarta with my parents--I'm assuming there were at least some rather serious lies of omission involved...

Does 'not telling them I've ever been on a date' count as lying?
