My hair is brown but there are a few red or black hairs. Does that mean my hair is not brown?

But in all seriousness, I'd say no, especially in terms of ideas and culture. Perhaps there's some examples in math and physics, though even there, there's still much being discovered that could well upend some of the ways we explain things now.

Food. I think everyone on the planet can and will agree that dirt, and rocks, and such, are most certainly not food.

Nope. The only absolute is that we feel the need to simplify things in order to deal with them. So technically no, but occasionally for all intents and purposes, yes. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I've taken to the philosophy that *everything* is more complex than it seems, and it hasn't failed me yet.

I've often been accused of black and white thinking. I think there is a gray zone for many things, but I feel like there are a good number of things that are black and white.

Chessboards are black and white and you can only be dead or alive so that's one.

    Oh my god, that's amazing.

Seriously, though, no, not really. My rationale tells me no, but to me, psychologically, yes, everything is. I'm getting it sorted out, but actually, nothing is really black and white.

    Except Michael Jackson. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

"Morals! There is right and there is wrong and anybody who cannot see the difference is either fool or a criminal!"

But in all seriousness, EVERYTHING is gray. Even Zebras.

My apologies to those who've heard me tell this before...

But in the late 1990s, I regularly watched at least the start each night of a late night talk show hosted by Tom Snyder. One night he commented that when he was in 20s, he viewed the world as black and white. This is right. Wrong. Good. Bad.

But, as the years passed, he started seeing the world as grays. Maybe this is right. Maybe this is wrong.

That made sense to me then, and it makes more sense to me now.

Although I did appear mentioning viewing the world in grays in print once, which resulted in a letter to the editor of the publication from a local conservative who didn't like my view. I suspect he'd say the world is right/wrong black/white, and, of course, his right is the only right right.
