If you have, what was it like? I'm going tomorrow and I'm kind of scared... :frowning2:

I did it when I was like 9 in NB and it was fine, but I don't think I saw much in the way of whales. :/

GreatWhale HAS to comment on this thread!!

I went to Kenai Fjords in Seward, Alaska in July of 2002. I was almost 10 years old. We took a boat out for about eight hours and that's all we did.

I also got to see whales from our hotel, the Best Western in Kihei, Hawaii, in February 2006. I was 13 and that was when they migrated south, to find warmer waters.

I have and it was amazing! Depending on where you go you'll see dolphins swimming in the wake of the boat (which brings tears to my eyes... its so beautiful and sweet), seal and whales.

Absolutely zero reason to be scared... heck bring a life jacket if it makes you feel better, but its so much fun

    Indeed I do!

Yes, I went whale watching in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. It was quite memorable and very beautiful to see these giant creatures frolicking in the wild! Nothing to be afraid of.

    Nope, but I'd like to.

How much does it cost, and where does one need to go? Are there Whales off the east coast, around here in the Mid-Atlantic?

Sounds fun. I've seen sharks before...I love the way they can clear swimmers from the water. I think they do that menacing thing with the fin above water just for fun. I know I would!

I went, but I was 5 so I don't recall most of it. It was in Australia, and I think we saw dolphins.

Yes when I was a kid up in Maine. It was fun then but not so sure how I would like it today.

I would love to do that. I have seen them a time or two, while traveling, and it wasn't on a planned whale watching trip.

They are very smart and generally travel in pods. They probably think we (humans) are the weirdos, sitting up on an excursion boat staring at them.

I'm sure you'll be taking photos. Have fun!

Sadly. Yes, whale and sea otter watching near Vancouver island a couple years ago. Other than me, no whales in sight (sadly)

Where I lived in WA you can see them from the beach pretty often. Im not a fan of being on a boat.

I've only known it to be around Alaskan/Canadian waters, but wherever whales can be found, there are probably people trying to look at them.

There have been dolphins jumping around and riding the bow waves of a boat I've been on, but I've never deliberately been taken out to spot whales. It sounds fun as long as you actually see some lol.

I've been and I enjoyed it. We only saw a few whale tails surface, but we did see a lot of dolphins, which was awesome  . All it is is sitting on a boat that goes around in the water, and the guide will point it out of they see something so people won't miss it. It's not scary at all.

I haven't actively been on a Whale watching tour, but I have seen them in the wild whilst on dive boats etc, and it is the most magical thing ever (I may be biased because Whales (Killer Whales) are my all-time favourite animal). But enjoy it. Don't be nervous. They are amazing animals and so special to see in the wild

I have, though it was mostly to appease my mother's interest in doing so (i.e., I would have just as soon used the money for something else, but she wanted my sister and I along). I will admit though, it was pretty darn awesome. I was expecting to see maybe one or two whales, and from afar - but we saw tons. Very fun.

And I know you've probably already gone - but no need to worry. Nothing bad will happen.
