Hey everyone. I've got a first date coming up and was hoping to get some input on an outfit. I'm thinking a blue or red polo, with dark blue jeans and a pair of white or navy flip flops. The date is just a very casual dinner so I don't want to overdress but still look nice. Let me know what you guys think :icon_bigg

I think that sounds nice, but I'm also criticized as being the worst "gay dresser" in the world... So take my advice with a grain of salt.

    Personally i'd say NO FLIPFLOPS.

Wear your most flattering stuff, stuff that you see yourself in in the mirror and you actually think "Yes, i do look good in this"

I think everybody has a t-shirt that makes their torso look good and some jeans that make their butt look good haha.

I'm hardly a fashion icon though but i go on nights out a lot and i "dress to impress" and get a few compliments

But the most important thing is..... BE YOU.

Sounds good. I'd prefer shorts with the flip flops or sneakers with jeans, but that's just me.

With my attraction to feet, I have to disagree with both of these. Cute toes showing can look great in the preppy style you described. IDK if it's unpopular with most, but I would love it, especially if you chose the white ones.

I would suggest a nice pair of trainers instead of flip-flops

I love flip flops and jeans! I think that'd look great. A polo would be nice or a nice graphic t-shirt.
    You've got the right idea.

Who would have known the LGBT community is nearly entirely against flip flops with long pants. Never would have guessed. I have never gone on a date like that, but i have most certainly gone other places. Ill have to take note. In the future I cant where flip flops with jeans :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    Forgot to add this:

I would say the red polo with blue jeans.

    And apparently no flip flops.

It sounds nice, but please, no sandals/flip-flops/thongs; sometimes it's hard to take someone seriously if they're wearing them. There's a difference between casual and sloppy, and for a date, you almost certainly want to look the former.

Wear something that suits you, and fits well. Make sure everything is cleaned, freshly ironed, and is a good fit. The fit is really important; better to wear a perfectly-sized T-shirt than an ill-fitting polo.

I wouldn't wear flip flops if you are eating out... even casual dining.

I don't understand all the flip flop hate  . If it's only a casual dinner, I see no problem with wearing your flip flops if you want to.

It was the combo of long pants and flip flops.

I have ZERO fashion sense so I dont know why.

Not a big fan of flip flops in general, but flipflops with long jeans make me cry on the inside.

Don't do it, OP. Don't do it.

That said: wear whatever you feel comfortable in  Cause if the other person likes you it shouldn't matter too much what you're wearing (yes, I could even get over my flip flop hate if the right guy is wearing them)
