About a 3. I can follow recipes and grill burgers/steaks to a good pink color, but not anything terribly fancy. Cooking is a lot of work for a short-lived reward, so I prefer that other people do it XD.

About a 6.5 because my family cooks and I took cooking classes in the past.

4-5. Assuming that 10 is Alain Ducasse, and 0 is setting off smoke alarms when boiling an egg. I'm a better cook than the average non-professional cook, and better than the average inexpensive restaurant when I put in a bit of an effort. I've been cooking for 4 years now, but obviously I would definitely rather eat at a good restaurant or a household with a professional cook.

I think 1-10 is a very narrow scale for something so expansively rateable as food, though, especially given that even the top global contenders (who would all be 10s) have fierce competition in their hundreds which can hardly be reflected in 1-10 without adding number-point-something.

...3? I'm capable of cooking edible food. I can use kitchen appliances without starting a fire or causing property damage. It's still not like I know what I'm doing, but I know how to use an instruction manual. Don't expect anything good, though.

Somewhere in the 8-9 range. I love to cook! In addition to "general cooking and grilling", I do Chinese, Ethiopian, Mexican, Thai, Middle Eastern, Indian, and some UK and Scandinavian dishes. I've also been dubbed Mistress of Drinks, Soups, Stews, Sauces and Condiments, as well as Baroness of Breakfasts.

6-7. I usually need a recipe to make something, but I'm usually pretty good at cooking. (There have been a few bad mistakes but I always caught it before it was too late :lol:slight_smile:

I'd probably rate myself a 7. I do love to cook and I'm still learning. I can cook typical Filipino food and know some of basic culinary skill such as making your own stock. I may however need more sharpening on my knifing skills as well as my garnishing.

4, I guess. Not that long ago, I would experiment by putting my special touch on dishes. Haha. I got a lot of compliments from my family on the oven baked salmon I used to make. They told me that it was the best fish they ever tasted.

I also used to make these yummy chocolate oat flour and blueberry cookies.

I'd give myself a 6/10 for my age. I want to improve and become an awesome cook. I think it would be awesome to impress a girl with a beautiful home-cooked meal one day.

2 out of 10, proficient at microwaving left-overs and heating up frozen pizzas.

I get a 2. I can use a microwave and I can make ramen on a stovetop and I can make macaroni and cheese with little smokies and meatballs. Oh and PB&J. And Butterbeer lattes. That's it.

    I guess 5 - about average.

Don't get me wrong, I love cooking and I'm often pleased with how my stuff turns out. But at the same time, I'd say my techniques are pretty basic and I also use a lot of pre-made stuff, like Ragu for making pastas. I would like to learn more one day and become more proficient at making stuff from scratch, though.

Maybe 6, on a scale including professional chefs. For my own needs, and those of my family, since I cook for them a lot, I'm pretty good. My father used to do most of the cooking, but he struggles with the idea of cooking plants, so I didn't really have a choice.
