This dating website has a free upgrade but you can't do it without credit card details. I've got lots of messages but can't reply without upgrade. Does anyone else find t. his weird
If you mistrust it, don't use it. That seems like a really obvious trap. As in, about the same level as getting an email from your long-lost cousin whom you've never heard of in Nigeria with cartloads of gold. What type of details do they want?
I've run into a few of those sites. I remember that Hulu offered a free trial but when you went to activate it, you had to enter credit card info. Mostly I think it's because they don't want people to abuse the system. They won't let the same credit card number upgrade for free multiple times. If it's not a mainstream or verified site, I wouldn't trust it with your credit card details. What you'll gain by upgrading probably isn't worth stolen credit card details.
Probably because they're trying to steal money from you. Oh, and cvv number is the last three digits of the number on the back.
Yeah, that is definitely not innocent. Forget that site and change any passwords you shared with other sites.
The most harmless situation will be if the site uses a valid credit card as a form of age verification for "adult-oriented" sites (since only adults can have credit cards in their own name because of the age of majority for contracts, though minors can be added to a parent's credit card or be issued a debit card by a bank that still runs through one of the major credit card systems like VISA or MasterCard, which defeats the purpose :lol. However, I would personally steer clear of those sites just because I have trust issues. If the company is offering a free trial, then the credit card info is because they're hoping you won't cancel in time to prevent being billed for the service. As soon as the free trial expires, they will charge the credit card.
I've come across a website like that one. Free registration for full access to all site features, but HEY WE NEED YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO. As soon as they required those information, I googled up that website and found out that people who have registered have been taken $49 off of their credit card, from the same company and website. Never give personal info unless it's secure.
so they can start billing you after 30 days because you forgot or never saw you had to cancel your AUTOMATIC SUBSCRIPTION TO BIG BASS DICK VIDS DOT COM
