So, yesterday I was taking a walk and this guy bumps into me and knocks me down. I was feeling kind of pissy so I shout "Watch where you're walking retard!" As the guy helps me up I notice all his friends look shocked, before I could ask what they were looking at, I got a good look at the guy I had just yelled at. His face looked a little odd, and I came upon the realisation that he was mentally handicapped. I was in shock, I couldn't believe myself. But wait! It gets even better! I say "Oh my God, I am so sorry, I didn't realise he was mentally handicapped!" The guy just looks at me weird and says "Um... I'm not." At this point I felt even worse, he looked so pissed off and I couldn't think of anything to say. I just walked away and prayed that I'd never run into him again.
Why should it matter whether the guy was disabled or mentally handicapped at all? You obviously reacted badly in a situation that was an accident. He should of asked you if you were okay and apoligized. You should not have yelled and used the word "retard". Maybe you both could have reacted better in this situation.
Don't worry, that stuff happens to me all the time. Watch what you say next time something like that comes along. Just don't be like me where you make it 10 times worse.
I also laughed at the situation, and would have died of embarrassment if it were me! Becky has the right idea though
haha that's why I try to avoid saying retard or calling things retarded. It's tough though when you grow up and that word is tossed around so casually. Same thing with calling anything 'gay' when you think it's stupid.
Yeah LOL, who wouldn't ... Though whenever that kind of things happen to me, its sort of like instinct to say "sorry" immediately even though it was somewhat the other person's fault.
Well I DIDN'T laugh at the situation, you meanies I just cringed a lot, you poor thing! (*hug*) That must've been painful....
