So I'm at my dad's house (finally) and they totally support me here. My step mom talked my ear off about how stupid people are when it comes to homosexuality and she said something I want to share. She told me that even if wanting to be with a girl is really a choice, that should be totally fine. Its okay to choose the clothes you wear, the way you wear your hair, what you eat...straight people choose who they want to be with all the time. Their argument about it being a choice is not only not accurate but also nonsensical. That's all. Any thoughts?(&&&)
That awesome to hear! I totally agree with what she said. Even if someone did make the conscious decision to be gay, how does that make it any less okay?
It's awesome that your parents are supportive. I generally avoid arguing about whether or not homosexuality is a choice because arguing that it's not a choice (within the context of discussing the morality of homosexuality) is implying that if it were a choice, it would be wrong.
That's a good point! Whether or not it's a choice shouldn't make a difference. Makes me wonder if the whole nurture/nature debate needs to be debated at all. It's great that your step-mum talks so openly and passionately about it.
