do you think that same sex marriage could really lead to polygamy?

Polygamy in most cases is about control, dominance, and competition between spouses. Gay marriage is nothing of the sort.

 

Maybe I've missed something but what arguments are people putting forward that gay marriage --> polygamy? It seems contradictory to me :s

It's one of the most ludicrous arguments I've heard against same sex marriage.

 

I don't see what the two have to do with each other.

 

No one said there was anything wrong, we are just wondering how they are related...any ideas? I'm lost really

 

Ive thought about a poly relationship and would date some as such. I think LGBT deserve the same rights as everyone else, well duh I'm trans/bisexual, but I side eye how the government gives people extra privileges by marriage. I think the whole capitalist colonizing system is fucked up. If poly people want to throw rings on each others fingers I am like so what, so many other people bend the system. People that want to marry animals and children can rot in filth and burn. Yes there are poly sects that are abusive but 9 times out of 10 the issue is women being exploited, domestic violence against women in a monogamous relationship is a huge issue as well. Maybe, I couldn't care more. the people that have an issue about marriages that are not the cis/hetro/mono norm they can shut up.

To be perfectly honest, I don't see why either one is such a big deal. Polyamory can only be argued against on moral grounds, like homosexuality. As much as I personally neither understand nor approve of polyamory, I see no reason to legally forbid it.

I apologize if anything I said was offensive, just expressing my opinion on the subject.

It's frankly either naive or deceitful to say that a comparison of this sort doesn't imply polyamory has negative qualities. You don't hear people saying, "oh no, what if it leads to flowers?"

 

Nope, not at all. Have you been to Utah? Straight people are involved in polygamy too, ladies and gentlemen :dry:.

I misunderstood, i thought you believed WE were saying it was negative so i tried to clear it up and then moved on to ask about why people believe there's a link in the first place
