I heard there was an study that most trans' people had AUTISM. I don't know if it was a real study, though. I don't have autism but I have dyspraxia which is somewhat like autism in some ways. I find this interesting, lol.

I'm on the lower end of the autism spectrum, and while I have difficulty with certain social skills, people tend to really like me. Well, some of them hate me, but there's almost no in between. I'm not sure why most trans people would have autism, wouldn't most by definition mean over 50% That seems high.

Oops. I didn't see the "and trans*" part. I clicked No. Disregard my vote.

Not that I know of. I could have high functioning autism, but that is unlikely.

Yes, I do. Asperger's to be exact, but it's still on the spectrum.

To echo CoconutSkins, I have Aspergers but NOT trans. Had problems with gender stuff in the past.

  11. I'm not on the spectrum at all.

I wonder if pollin an online forum will get a biased result though, like that thread about whether most LGBT people are introverts? It's not that most LGBT people are introverts it's just more likely to find introverts on forums. Could it be that people on the autism spectrum are likely to visit an online forum for their sexuality and gender stuff?

On a side note, I have met quite a lot of LGBT who fit within the dyslexic/dyspraxic/ADHD/aspergers specturm - i.e. are neurodiverse in some way. E.g. ex girlfriend, friends, previous flatmates.

Although I think the literature says sexuality and gender identity can be multifaceted (cf nature/nuture debate), there does seems to be some kind of link from my experience. That's not to say however that one who is neurodiverse automatically is LGBT of course!

I have Asperger's ^_^, which can probably show in terms of what I say and write sometimes  and I'm not trans at all.

    Are you me? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

IIRC, there is a higher incidence of being genderfluid/trans or struggling with gender identity among people in the Autism spectrum than in the so-called 'normal' population. God knows why, but it does seem to be the case.

Unless somehow I adopted an Essex accent overnight (I've never been to the U.K.), so I doubt it. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: It's a mere coincidence.

I don't have either of them. I was born with a pragmatic language impairment; the doctors thought I was autistic. It turns out that I'm not, but I might have some traits associated with autism.
