I'm from New York, so I can help .

    Go to Lombardi's= great pizza.
There's also really good Chinese and Korean food in Queens, particularly in Flushing and Elmhurst. Good Chinese food too is available in Lower Manhattan, in Chinatown. South Street Seaport also has good dining options as well .

I live in Atlanta right now so...
The Varsity, Tin Drum Café, Zaxby's!!!, Waffle House, and Mary Mac's Tea Room .

Bagel World, this place has a cult like following in my town, people wait in hour long lines to get a bagel in the morning. There are only a few stores in existence.

Near where I am, the Harvester food chain serves some of the best grilled food ever along with the Hungry Horse chain. There is also the Crown carvery chain which makes some of the nicest roast meat and is great when going out for a Sunday roast lunch with family!

If you want to drive the three hours or so to Chicago, go to Gino's East. They have the BEST deep dish pizza I have ever had. It's really busy though. Outback for steak and Red Lobster for seafood are good too.

For San Diego: In n' Out (fast food, but SO much better. google their secret menu.), Rubio's (get the fish tacos. sounds weird, but just trust me), and DZ Akins (jewish deli/bakery. HUGE menu with HUGE portions. you can split everything with at least 3 people).

Oh, also Phil's BBQ, but I personally don't like it.

My area specifically has a lot of really good Italian places.

There's also a tonne of restaurants that own their own farms here(like real farms) so a lot of their produce used is grown only like 10 kilometres away. So it's one of the freshest you can get. It's not like a city that has to import most of it's food or grow it on a smog covered roof. It's all super fresh, pesticide free(my town has banned them), food.

Best cuts of steak I've ever had were from a butcher that gets it's meat from a farm that is like 1 km away from me. Literally better than anything I've had in a restaurant and we cooked them at home.

Only crap thing is everything is super expensive so I end up going to franchises mainly anyway. Our town is franchise death though, at least 5 open up every year and fail because most people go to smaller Italian food places.

Quizno's, Domino's, Little Caesars, Cora's, Subway, KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, 2 4 1, Boston Pizza, Crabby Joe's, Wild Wing, all have failed here and we have to population to support them. People just didn't go.

Our busiest super market is an independent grocer, which is really weird for Canada because most towns only have large franchises.
