I saw this awhile back and loved it. If only some people realized how foolish they sounded....

I usually get sick twice a year, and it always happens at the same times too :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:! So, I just try to prepare myself before it happens. Especially when I work for a place where missing one day of work can make all the difference in terms of income for that month :/.

Told someone trying to figure out how to move a table that it's easy. 'Just fold it up and put it into your pocket.'

He started to nod like he was trying to figure it out. About ten seconds later, 'What the?'

I used to get really sex every six months. Here in Puerto Rico it tends to suddenly go from cold to extremely hot and that makes me sick, especially during the summer. This is the first time where I haven't been sick for a whole year  This week I've been really close to getting sick, but somehow I'm fighting it and appear to be winning the battle. Maybe it's my diet, exercise... I don't know, something is happening, but I can't say what's changed.

You should really stop having flu, it's not healthy for you!
(I don't get flu since I was 14, don't know whether to be worried or just happy)

I haven't had the flu in years (knocks on wood :lol:slight_smile:.

In high school, I was getting some early symptoms and went to the doctor and they did a nasal swab test and came back positive. Got some Tamiflu and never really felt truly "sick."

I generally try to avoid sick people and eat reasonably well. My sleeping habits are horrible .

Last time I had flu I ended up in hospital. Apparently flu and asthma don't mix :frowning2: suffice to say I don't remember much of what happened.

I have a free flu jab every year now.

    Happy days

The comic is actually about depression/other mental illness and how ridiculous it would be if people reacted to physical injury/illness the way they do to mental illness. I've seen it in other contexts. Not sure if the OP was aware of that but it seems like some may be missing the joke?

As for the flu, I have a mild immunodeficiency that means I spend most winters pretty sick. No fun indeed.

I've tried not having the flu. Maybe denying that it really is the flu will make those feelings of tiredness and sickness go away, if I try hard enough? Or perhaps it's just a cold. Everyone has colds right? It doesn't mean it's flu. It can't be. My parents raised me to be healthy. And I take vitamins every day.

Or it could just be a phase I'm going through. It will pass.

    Yep, it's definitely not flu.

    *sneeze*

    Oooh, err!

That is how I read it. I thought the picture didn't work  I wanted a catchy title, but I was thinking of how mental illness is perceived, not about how often you get sick

I had the flu and my mum said 'You should at least make an effort.' And dragged me to school, it was then the school nurse explaining how i ended up in the i firmary to her. I was simply walking and i just lost my balance and fell to my knees and sneezed and couldnt get back up. I spent the next 4 days in bed.

I actually didn't "get it" because I posted on my phone and didn't really see the images . Now that I am on my desktop and actually read the images, I get it.

Mental health is incredibly complex because some of it is known to be caused by "organic" causes, and, of the rest of them, some could also eventually be attributed to "organic" causes. However, there has always been a stigma in those who seek help, those with mental disorders, etc.

However, even with "true" organic diseases, humans have always had levels of "stigmatization." Tell someone you have breast cancer and you get nothing but outpouring support; tell someone you have lung cancer, and count how many seconds it takes till they ask if you smoke. Even when it comes to funding, it's much easier to get a telethon or marathon race to raise money for breast cancer than it is for lung cancer, probably because many people see those with lung cancer "earned it" (i.e. by smoking), even though many afflicted have never smoked and/or been exposed to second-hand smoke. I'm just using this as an example of how even "true" organic diseases can become stratified in the amount of emotional and physical (i.e. research dollars) support they receive.
