Much more. I have so many church and family friends on FB. I have so many college acquaintances too that I am not out to yet.

I keep thinking about shutting my Facebook down. While I don't care much about what Joe Blow may or may not think, the entire thing seems more and more pointless and risky. edit: Even if you set stuff to friends only and all...

I don't have to worry about what I say so much on here as I do on FB. Not like I really post anything on there anyways, but my goodness. Everyone here is much more comforting to be around.

I don't use facebook, but I feel facebook is detrimental to the mental health because on social media we try to craft this perfect persona and only capture ephemeral moments of happiness. It is also the place where people try to collect "likes" (even for spilling their guts) as if they're a measurement of one's worth to others.

The nature of EC is unlike that of facebook. Plus, we have the added privacy to talk about the most private matters (dealing with sexual orientation) among our peers (i.e. gender/sexual minorities).

    Amen to this ^^^^

And yes, I feel more comfortable here than on Facebook. I deleted my FB account a while back, but I never felt as comfortable on there as I do here. (!)

I actually have myself listed, on Facebook, as MTF and Genderqueer. I was surprised to find those as options! But still more comfortably out here than there.

This is the very reason I only have 5 friends on Facebook! (&&&)

I'm more comfortable anywhere other than FB, since half the family joined and already I had friends of very different lifestyles sometimes I censor myself of posting this or that, because might offend someone ... That could be easily solved either don't caring what someone may think or do, because after all is my wall and not theirs, or having two IDs. I'm not the sort of posting a selfie a day or whatever, and I keep FB as a way to get updated about cultural events in my city and how are fellow artists or old friends doing.

I don't know, it's just different. I use EC and Facebook for two different things. I don't share super personal things on Facebook because that's social media, not a help forum. It really surprises me some of the things people post on Facebook.

    I actually like Facebook hahaha.

I don't have people questioning everything I do on here to the extend I feel unable liking things, I like it here more.

For sure. I haven't posted a single thing on FB for about 2 years. Everyone there is so judgemental whereas here everyone is genuinely supportive. I can be myself on EC, which is far different from FB where I feel like I couldn't be myself completely. On here the topics of conversation are about real things, issues we are facing everyday and achievements we get. It's not a competition for who can brag the most or get the most likes on our "selfies". It's about a community who all have something in common, who can provide a shoulder for you to cry on and a hand to lift you up.
I have a lot of family on FB, and the only reason I kept my account was to check out family photos and keep in touch.

Yeah definitely! Not many of the friends I have on Facebook are not straight (that I know of). I can relate to so many of you here, makes me feel great and proud. (*hug*)

I like Facebook, but I should add that I refused to add any of my family. My personal life is none of their business.

Besides that I use FB and EC for different things.

I definitely feel more comfortable here. I don't have to self censor what I say since there won't be any IRL consequences for it. Plus having real conversations and discussions generally interests me more than talking about whatever frat party happened last night or seeing what drinks people bought at Starbucks.

Same. I use Facebook to keep in touch with others, while this is a chatting/help forum. If both were forums or both were structured like Facebook, then I could compare them.
