So we were watching television , I forgot the football players name but he came out as gay and my dad told me he got cut from the team because of numbers . I then said it's probably because he's gay and they used numbers as an excuse . My mom got upset and yelled it's numbers not because of numbers . Then when I said sarcastically you can only be heterosexual in foot ball . My mom got mad and said
" your only saying that because your insecure about yourself ! "
I can sense she was wanting to ask me why do I care about gay rights but she didn't .
But the one thing I hate that my mother does is try to encourage me insulting gays and lesbians , she talks about my gay cousin and his lesbian sister all the time .
Even insulting there mother one time saying
" Look at you your children are gay " It's like she's trying to force me to be as homophobic as she is .

I'd say it's the opposite, it takes guts to stand up for whatever you believe in

If I were you I'd say "hey mom look at you, YOUR children are gay!"

Isn't it the opposite? People who refuse to stand up for gay rights are the ones who are insecure. Straight people might be too insecure because they think it will make them look gay. Gay people might be too insecure because they aren't comfortable with being gay.

I'm just going to say, from your posts it kind of sounds like your mom already knows you're a lesbian. I know that might sound funny, but I don't see why else she is constantly telling you these things.

Why do you assume he got cut because he's gay? Players get cut all the time.

He comes out as gay and gets cut immediately after.

He came out as gay long before he was drafted, and then lasted until the last round of cuts every team makes in the offseason. He was also a 7th round pick and was only picked 10th out of the 11 players total that St. Louis drafted. 7th round picks very rarely make the team, and the Rams already have enough pass rushing DEs as it is. Even if he made the team, he would probably be a third stringer and never get in a game.

I'll pretend I understand some of those words ^ ^

Anyway, what your mum said was clearly untrue but it does seem to me that she strongly suspects you're gay, and she's waiting for you to say one way or another. Of course that doesn't mean you should come out to her if you feel she's going to react negatively.

From what I've read--and given that is football I've read a surprising amount about it-- it seems pretty clear that he was cut because of the numbers. I hesitate to even put this last bit in but--well here goes--given that you admittedly know nothing about the situation and then were adamant in taking the position that he was fired for being gay and there couldn't be any other explanation my gut reaction is to say that in this one very small conversation your mother was right--you did say it because on this particular topic, especially with your parents, you are operating from a position of insecurity. I suppose I could be wrong but it might be something to consider...
