I'm going to convert it to pounds.

I would donate £950,000,000 to charitable organisations, because I would hate to have that much money floating around - I'd have no idea what to do. Then I'd have £50,000,000 left - and presuming I live for another 65 years, I'd have £769,230 every year - £346,153 after taxes. Presuming I follow a budget and don't go crazy, I could easily live on that for the rest of my days.

 

I'd inform the police. You can't get away with possessing a billion dollars if you haven't obtained it legitimately; trying to justify such a large sum through falsely legal means is impossible for the most part given the enormity of the sum.

It'd be great, but reality'd ensue pretty quickly.

Well, if you want to be very realistic, then yeah such a large sum of money would not go unnoticed, but since this is just an internet hypothetical, it doesn't matter.

How would you find 1 billion dollars anyway? That amount of money is too large to be concealed in an envelope or something. It'd have to be on a card, but if it was, one would presume the person who lost it would cancel the card immediately.

This entire hypothetical is falling to bits before our very eyes. It just doesn't add up!

Donate about 980 million of it, then live off of the remaining 20 in a life of luxury. I'd still feel kind of guilty if I spent all of that before I died, but it never hurts to have extra incase of a severe inflation. Because of my political views I don't believe anyone should even have 20 million dollars, but being honest with myself that's about how much I'd keep.

 

Walk round and hand most of it over to various people who may need it. No one should have such vast quantities of money whilst others go without so I suppose I'd give most of it away.

Oh gosh, way to spoil the fun. This is a hypothetical situation. You're allowed to ignore reality.

As for me, I'd probably spend millions of it trying to clone a thylacine. Then I would probably lose the rest gambling.

But at least I'll have a new pet

 

Buy the Tampa Bay Rays and Lightning, then over the next few years donate both of the teams revenue to charity until I've given 1 billion back then start spending any future money on whatever I want.
